Happy New Year everyone! I need to pay someone $$$ to move an exam table (200-250 pounds) across town next week. No stairs and should be easy for 2 people with the right equipment. Anyone in Skagit have a van/dolly/ or truck/ramp and muscles who can help? Craigslist has been unhelpful so I'm asking here. Let me know or PM or text me! 360-333-4476 Thanks!

Having a hard time finding us? Google maps loves to send our patients to the wrong side of town. First time patients---Don't be fooled! Our office is upstairs in the Skagit Valley Food Co-op building. Yes- it's a grocery store down stairs, and office space on the third floor. You'll be better off mapping to the grocery store than to the 321 W Washington Street address. One building-- two addresses!

Free yoga classes!!! I go to a wonderful yoga studio in Bellingham, which has transferred classes over to livestream Zoom during the pandemic. The classes I do at home with them help me feel more calm, more connected, and definitely stronger with less body pain. They are offering FREE classes during Thanksgiving week if you would to explore yoga at home this week! Big thanks to the studio for offering this :)

Here's an easy to follow slideshow about particular types of masks and how effective they may be. One important point that you might not know: A "ventilated" mask does not protect people around you. The vents allow your air and respiratory droplets (potentially carrying Coronavirus) to escape unfiltered. Thanks for wearing a different type of mask in my office! And hang in there everyone. We will get through this together. https://www.medscape.com/slideshow/facemask-visual-guide-6013216 #16

President Trump VS Fauci on coronavirus? Trump says we're "rounding the corner". Fauci disagrees. I disagree as well, and I'll believe the top government infectious disease expert over President Trump, who is on record admitting to downplaying the severity of the virus earlier during this election year. With 35-40,000 new cases a day, and 1000 deaths still occurring per day, we are certainly NOT rounding the corner. In fact, predictions from many scientists predict a "second wave" in the fall. I'm here for your questions if you're still not sure who or what to believe.

Hello my wonderful patients,
Do you want your doctor to get their medical knowledge from facebook and twitter? I do not, and I don't think you should either! Facebook is NOT unbiased information. Whatever you see on facebook is essentially your opinion, amplified over and over. Once you're tagged into an algorithm on facebook, you're going to see what you WANT to see and what you are led to believe in that algorithm. In regards to your health, I think you deserve MUCH better. Look for unbiased, data and science driven information from reputable sources.

When you ask me during a visit about your health or public health (particularly in regards to Covid), I am always happy to have a discussion with you, but please remember that the Facebook posts that bombard you are not necessarily factual. Anyone can post or say anything. I am here to help you make sense of it. Thank you.

Finally we have drive through COVID 19 testing for Skagit County, starting Monday. Also, new testing guidelines allow us to test an expanded population instead of just the critical patients. If you are ill, call the office and we'll help you get to the right place.

Drive-through testing is available in the east parking lot of Skagit Valley College, near McIntyre Hall, for any healthcare workers or first responders, any people who have been recommended for testing by their doctor, and any members of public showing mild symptoms of Coronavirus, such as cough a.....

What to do about masks??? If you have a mask, wear it when out in public. If you can make a mask and wear it, do. If you have an unopened box of masks, donate it to your local hospital—- don’t hoard them. Love to my community—- stay strong and safe at home!

A New York cardiologist calls for universal mask usage to slow the spread of COVID-19.

This study isn't a big surprise, but shows us that frequent use of smartphones is linked to taking more medication use for headaches, with less response to these medications. People who were on smartphones less had fewer headaches requiring pain medications, and responded quicker. Yet another reason for us to put down our phones and do something offline.

Smartphone use in patients with primary headache is connected to more medication use and less pain relief, new research shows.

02/25/2020

Thank you for your patience! Our phone problems from this morning have now been resolved. If you couldn’t get through earlier today, please try us again. Have a great Tuesday!

Lots of patients are asking for my opinions on Intermittent Fasting. There are many different ways of intermittent fasting, and we are finding that it can be helpful in metabolic and cardiovascular diseases. It’s not appropriate for everyone, however. My friend and fellow naturopath Alethea Fleming is teaching a class on this (Intermittent Fasting) tonight at 6:30. Upstairs at the Skagit Valley Food Co-op. She is a fun and engaging speaker!
