On Saturday, September 20, the Mt. Vernon Veterans Home Assistance League will host its Twentieth Annual Ride for Freedom to benefit our Veterans. This is a motorcycle poker run that will travel 106 miles through the Ozarks. Top two hands win along with low hand. The poker run is open to all motorcycle riders 18 years and older. Cars are also welcome. First bikes out at 9:00 am. Last bike out at 10:30 am, last bike in at 1:30 pm. Registration fee of $30 ($15 for passengers). For entry fee riders will get one poker hand and one meal. Pre-registered riders (cut-off September 5) receive a T-shirt. Location of start is Missouri Veterans Home, 1600 S. Hickory St., Mt. We want to thank the Risen Ranch Cowboy Church outside of Carthage for donating wheelchair bags, cell phone bags and bean bags for our Veterans. The ladies of the church sewed the bags and children who attended the Horsemanship Bible Camp stenciled the bags and wrote nice little notes which were placed in each bag. Thank you!
