Little update on Avery,
Tomorrow morning she is scheduled for a heart cath and possibly a MRI if timing works out. She’s been having off and on issues of bloody diarrhea. With her two blood thinners it’s terrifying to see. Her hemoglobin was dropping but with increasing her iron it has stabilized. She has been showing signs of a post Fontan complication so I’m hoping we can gain a more clear answer tomorrow. We also learned that the right side of her diaphragm has gotten worse. We knew in the chaos back in July that there was damage but I had honestly forgot. There’s a chance she’s going to need surgery to keep her diaphragm from pushing into her lung. I just pray for some good news tomorrow. My girl needs a break!

Avery has been home for 38 days! When Avery first came home she was similar to a newborn in a 3 year old body. She is our Avery now! Obviously still has a ways to go but every single day she shows us more and more. She’s still a mamas girl to the core! Still annoyed with our dog. Been counting to ten. Trying to say her abcs. Just talking way more in general. Yesterday she started asking for cold wawa and actually taking drinks from her pink yeti cup. Head control getting stronger. Tone feels amazing. Sitting with support way better. Loves the racetrack. Asked mama to cut her fingernails like she used to. And I could go on. It’s truly amazing to watch! Every night when we go to bed we always ask each other what she will be doing tomorrow. Still fighting some medical issues but overall things are great from where we came from. I Truly believe Avery will walk again and in time will be eating at the kitchen table just like before. She’s the sweetest little girl and we will keep fighting right beside her!!

Avery scared us yet again yesterday. We were waiting in the lobby at therapy and all of a sudden her head dropped to the right, her arms dropped and her eyes were going back and forth so fast. She was saying mama over and over and then seemed so confused, scared and very sleepy. I was pretty sure she had a seizure. We got her in the car as fast as we could and dad drove to the hospital on a mission. They got her back pretty fast and the doctors came in to evaluate her. Because of her history of seizures from her cardiac arrest when she was 6 weeks old plus the new brain injury this is something we were told could be a possibility. They started her on Keppra and also gave us a prescription for a rescue if she has one that last more than 3 mins. I’m praying that with the medication this won’t be a regular thing for Avery. We would do anything in this world for Avery. We love you Turkey 😘💕

HOME SWEET HOME!!
95 days later we got to bring our sweet sweet girl home today! It almost doesn’t seem real yet. Been so busy trying to get things organized and tons of medicine drawn up. It will definitely take us a little bit to get a good routine going. But we are all so happy to be home. Avery seemed scared in the car at first, she was squeezing my hand so tight. But since we’ve been home she has been really calm and content. When Junior was licking her face she even cracked a little smile.
We also want to thank every single person who has supported Avery & us during this extremely difficult time. We can’t thank y’all enough for all the prayers and different fundraisers & benefits!! Avery is so loved and we definitely feel it! Avery is a very special little girl and we are so thankful to be her parents! Love you Turkey 😘💗

Sweet girl has been doing so good! She passed her swallow study this past week. So now she can start trying more purée foods. We just have to work on encouraging positives when it comes to anything by mouth. I know she’s not where we hope for the future she will be, but she has made so much progress! Her physical therapist was telling us how much better she’s doing at tracking (because when we got here she wasn’t tracking at all) and I had actually told her that I questioned it because we weren’t seeing it. That same night she was actually looking at us!! And watching me walk around the room! We are so proud of her! Ricky tells me everyday she’s going to walk again, talk again. Avery is truly a miracle! We love you 😘

Avery has had the best day! She has been really calm and comfortable today. I would say about 95% of the day! We just love her so much & I’m so thankful that she’s still in there fighting! Avery was literally born a fighter. Unfortunately she has had to endure so much pain since the day she was born. But I honestly could not be any more proud or thankful that she’s my daughter and that I get the privilege to be her mother and spend everyday for the rest of my life lovin on her!

I love this girl more than she will ever know! She’s starting to gain a good amount of head control back!! It’s such a good feeling to see her make progress 🥰 She also was chewing on her lion that I had saved from when she struggled orally as a baby. All of this might seem like such small improvements but for Avery and what she’s been through I feel like it’s huge! I can’t wait to see all the milestones she will reach again. She’s a strong, strong little girl! Mama & daddy loves you sweet baby!

Pretty sure Avery really enjoyed being outside today! It was the calmest and content I think I’ve really seen her since all of this. She’s still making small but huge improvements. I feel like her hands aren’t so tight, she’s starting to gain a small amount of head control. She is so unbelievably strong! We love you so very much sweet girl!💜
