Dr Housholder and Dr Fejzo are making strides with HG Research! Their abstract on two medications that are really helping HG patients was published in the SMFM Pregancy Journal š
In a retrospective chart review conducted at The HG & Morning Sickness Clinic, which treated ~1300 HG patients over 3 years, researchers evaluated the effectiveness of off-label mirtazapine and olanzapine for managing Hyperemesis Gravidarum (HG) in patients unresponsive to standard therapies.
Outcomes were assessed using HELP and PUQE scores, vomiting frequency, and weight change at follow-up.
This research was presented as a poster presentation at the SMFM conference in early 2026.

Thank you to Kimber MacGibbon, MS, BSN, RN and AimƩe Brecht-Doscher, MD, both from the HER Foundation, for reviewing this abstract prior to publication.
The HyperEmesis Level Prediction Score is a validated tool that has become the gold standard for assessing HG. Developed by the HER Foundation, this highly sensitive tool quantifies HG symptoms into a score that can be trended over time to monitor progress and response to treatment.
