Larry Eddie Perkins, beloved husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather passed away unexpectedly while surrounded by family on December 12 th at Bristol Regional Hospital, with his wife of 58 years holding his hand.

Larry, who was born on June 19, 1949, to the late Eddie and Cledith Perkins was raised in the Neva Community where he went on to live most of his life. Larry made his living as a millwright construction worker, and he traveled much of the country in this capacity until he retired. He loved Harley Davidson motorcycles and rode often when able in years past. He was a supporter of the second amendment and had an interest in collecting a vast variety of items. He married the love of his life, Sophia Carol Walker Perkins, on July 3, 1967. After a brief time of living and working in the Knoxville, Crossville, and Alcoa area; they moved back to Mountain City to raise their family. On occasion, his wife and daughters would join him in whichever state he was working during the school holiday or summer vacation. This time together was special to them all.

Besides his parents, Larry was preceded in death by two brothers, Gary Perkins and Terry Perkins both of Mountain City; and two nephews, Eddie Mack Perkins of Mountain City, and Travis Curd of Knoxville, Tennessee.

Along with his wife, those left to cherish and honor his memory are their three daughters Debra Alice Perkins Ward of Bristol TN, Dawn Blevins (Rodney) of Mountain City, and Katie Lingerfelt (Cheyenne) of Bristol TN; sister, Sharon Fritz (Jim) of Knoxville, TN and brothers, Jerry Perkins and Perry Perkins both of Mountain City. He had nine grandchildren, Joey “BJ” Burgess, Todd Norris, Amber Davis (Nyles), Mackenzie Lytle (Nick), TJ Norris, Tessa Stacy (Andy), Brittany Garr, Lexie Sell, and Cole Sell. Many of whom would say he stepped up as a father figure for them and that they loved him as father. And he had thirteen great-grandchildren, Melah Burgess, Jenna Burgess, Octavia Burgess, Blake Farr, Benjamin Farr, Rachel Lytle, Rylie Lytle, Sophie Davis, Nora Davis, Jack Regan, Penelope Stacy, Benny Stacy, Charlie Stacy.

A funeral service for Larry was conducted at 6:00 PM on Wednesday, December 17, 2025 at Hux & Lipford Funeral Home with Shannon Courtner officiating. The family received friends from 5:00 PM until the service hour. A graveside service was held at 11:00 AM on Thursday, December 18, 2025 at the Hodge Cemetery.

The pallbearers were Joey “BJ” Burgess, Todd Norris, TJ Norris, Cole Sell, Cheyenne Lingerfelt, and Rodney Blevins.

Honorary pallbearers were Danny Ray Wilson, Shane Mann, Ronnie Arnold, Tommy “TJ” Johnson, Larry Snyder, and Jerry Perkins.

Kathryn Annette Stout Morrison, 68, entered into her new life on Friday December 12, 2025 following a brief illness. Annette was preceded by her husband, John Joseph Morrison; her parents, Joey B Stout and Anna Kathryn Goodwin Stout; her mother-in-law Latrell Morrison; her grandparents, JD and Blanche Stout and Ronder and Beulah Goodwin; her aunts and uncles, Ailene Mizell, Lorraine and Ben Snyder, Betty and Beryl Rhudy, and Bruce and Kate Vaught, and cousin, Sandee Vaught Hefner Bechtel.

Annette’s memory is cherished by her brother, Gary B Stout; her sister and brother-in-law Connie and Gary Hill; her brothers- and sister-in-law, Alex and Kathy Morrison and Richard Morrison; her nieces and nephews, Christopher (Kasey) Morrison and children Andrew, Taylor and Mazie, Michael “Mikey” Morrison, Kristin Morrison, Cooper Morrison and Corbin Morrison; cousins Kerwin (Joe) Cornett, Joey Beth (Chopper) Souder and daughter Sydney, Clay Graybeal, Chloee (Casey) Ham and children Dean, Sawyer and Averly, Terry (Diana) Snyder, Brian (Tanya) Snyder and sons Briton and Keegan, Candi Presnell and sons Corbin and Pacey, Linnie (Sheri) Rhudy, Austin Rhudy and Jackson (Harlow) Rhudy, Tony (Pat) Rhudy, Holly Wills and children Tyler and Carrie, Jesse (Keisha) Rhudy and sons Carter and Maddex, Lunelle (David) Mizell McCallister, Terry (Sherri Miller) Vaught, Mike (Heidi) and children Kristelle and Scott, Megan Hefner, and Kurt Hefner.

Family was important to Annette and we all knew and felt her love. She also had many friends who have known and returned that love, have supported her in so many ways over the years, and will miss her sweet smile, thoughtful ways, and gentle spirit. Annette leaves behind a legacy of service and love. She worked as a paralegal in Johnson City and loved serving in her church in a variety of ways. She especially enjoyed singing in the church choir and kept the choir music organized and in good form. She and John served as foster parents and taught children and youth Sunday School. Annette loved to gift people with the results of her crocheting, and loved music, singing along to the radio, reading, and travel, especially road trips down country roads. Annette also loved her dogs and cats. Her current cat, Monkey, misses her lap.

The family will meet at Hux & Lipford Funeral Home in Mountain City for private moments on Friday Dec 19. Annette requested a private family graveside service at the Shoun-Goodwin cemetery in Doe Valley. Rev. Michael Lester and Rev. Douglas Grove-DeJarnett will officiate. Friends and family are invited to a Celebration of Life on Saturday December 20 at Munsey United Methodist Church in Johnson City at 1 pm with a reception to follow.

Pallbearers include Terry Snyder, Tony Rhudy, Austin Rhudy, Jackson Rhudy, Chopper Souder and Mike Vaught.

Honorary pallbearers include Gary Stout, Gary Hill, Linnie Rhudy, Terry Vaught, Alex Morrison and Richard Morrison.

Donations may be made to Munsey United Methodist Church, to the National Center for Missing And Exploited Children, to St Jude Children’s Research Center, to the World Wildlife Fund, or to the Equal Justice Initiative.

Laura Mae Dunn Lipford, age 90, of Mountain City, Tennessee, passed away Tuesday, December 2, 2025. She was born February 15, 1935 to the late William Edyuth Dunn and Rebecca (Lear) Leah Dishman Dunn. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Dagle D. Lipford; Sisters, Nell Smiley, Louise Robinson, Mable Stout, Retha Dunn, Leona Pennington, and Trula Lipford; Brothers: Everett Dunn, Orville Dunn, Ed Dunn, and Bob Dunn.

Laura Mae was a charter member of Walnut Grove Baptist Church. She loved gardening, Painting, and Working Puzzles.

Those left to cherish her memory include her son, Glen Blevins (Kathy); daughters, Kathy Roberts and Rebecca Mae Vanderheide (Alex); sister, Beulah Clampett; brother Ernest Dunn.

8 grandchildren, 12 greatgrandchildren 5 great great grandchildren several nieces and nephews and special friend, Billy Outlaw also survive.

A funeral service for Laura Mae will be conducted at 2 p.m. on Sunday, December 7, 2025 at Hux Lipford Funeral Home with David Bentley and Tracy Newman officiating. Visitation will be from 1 pm until 2 pm Graveside services and burial will follow in the Lipford Cemetery.

The pallbearers will be Chris Blevins, Little Gary Johnson, Robert Blevins, Brandon Dunn, Michael Bungardner, Jonathan Eldreth, Eric Roark, and Cleve Piercy.

Vickey J. Snyder, age 77, of 419 Old Butler Rd. Mountain City, passed away peacefully Friday 28, 2025 at her home surrounded by her family.

Vickey was a devoted mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, beloved by everyone who knew her. Born and raised partly overseas, Vickey spent part of her childhood in Germany and Japan-experiences that fostered her lifelong love of travel. She was an active and cherished member of her community. Her involvement included regular participation at the senior center and membership at Antioch Baptist Church. Vickey’s warmth, kindness, and generous spirit touched many lives. She will be deeply missed by family, friends and all who had the privilege of knowing her. The world was a better place because of her.

Vickey is preceded in death by her parents Harvey and Dorothy Herman and her beloved husband Kelly Snyder.

Vickey is survived by her daughters, Amber Foster (Tony), Rebecca Baker (Jonathan), Kelly Campbell, (Buzz). Her sister, Elizabeth Malm (Perry), brothers Steven Herman, and Matthew Herman (Amy). Vickey was a proud grandmother to Alexander Woodell (Amanda), Rachel Blum (Andrew), Robert Gwinn (Katy), Megan Hardin (Hunter), Cheyenne Tester (Anthony), Vickey also had 11 great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.

Friends and family are invited to celebrate Vickey at Hux and Lipford Funeral Home. Visitation will take place on December 6, 2025 from 1:00pm to 2:00pm, followed by a funeral service at 2:00pm with Reverend Mike Fenner to officiate. A graveside service will immediately follow at Arnold Cemetery.

Ray L Osborne, age 80, of Mountain City, Tennessee passed away Wednesday, November 19, 2025 in Watauga Medical Center. He was born December 24, 1944 to the late John Osborne and Stella Sluder Osborne. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his daughter, Lisa Ramirez; step-son, Rick Potter and several brothers and sisters.

Ray attended Locust Gap Baptist Church. He retired from Thomasville Furniture Factory in Lenoir, North Carolina. He enjoyed fishing and gardening. Ray loved his grandchildren more than anything. He was the most honest person you would ever meet and was liked by everyone.

William Willis Taylor, a cherished husband, father, grandfather, and friend, passed away peacefully on November 15, 2025, at the age of 84. Born on October 3, 1941, in White Top, Virginia, William lived a life filled with love, hard work, and an unwavering commitment to his family and community.

William was the beloved son of Virgil and Grace Taylor. He grew up in a close-knit family, with siblings who shared many cherished memories. He was preceded in death by both of his parents, as well as his brothers Lacy and Cecil Taylor, his sister Marie Green, and his beloved son Scott Kraft. Their absence will be felt deeply by all who knew and loved him.

He is survived by his devoted wife of 14 years, Bessie Taylor, who stood by his side through thick and thin, supporting him in all his endeavors. Together, they created a life filled with laughter, shared dreams, and countless adventures. William is also survived by his loving daughters, Teresa Nolder (Harry) and Pam Rogers (David), and his sons, William Taylor (Mertis), Donald (Tina), and Rick; his sisters, Louise Wiggens, Helen Hall, Kathy Johnson and Eleanor Kingsley; his brothers, Billy Taylor, Earl Taylor, Butch Taylor, David Taylor and James Taylor. He took great pride in his family and found immense joy in being a grandfather to his grandchildren, who brought him endless happiness.

Professionally, William was a dedicated truck driver and a proud member of the Teamsters union. His work ethic was unmatched, and he took pride in every mile he drove. Known for his ability to work with his hands, he enjoyed tinkering with various projects, whether it was fixing a car or maintaining a beautiful yard—a testament to his love for gardening and the outdoors.

William was also an avid deer hunter, often spending weekends in the woods, reveling in nature’s tranquility. He had a passion for travel, always eager to explore new places and create lasting memories with his loved ones. His adventurous spirit and zest for life inspired those around him to appreciate the beauty in every moment.

A member of the National Rifle Association and an active participant in the Teamsters, William took pride in being involved in his community. He believed in standing up for what was right and supporting those in need. His kindness and generosity left an indelible mark on all who had the pleasure of knowing him.

A funeral service for William will be conducted at 7:00 PM on Thursday, November 20, 2025 at Hux & Lipford Funeral Home with Gary Gambill and John Hammett to officiate. The family will receive friends from 6:00 PM - 7:00 PM prior to the funeral service. As we gather to honor this remarkable man, we remember not only the life he lived but also the love he shared and the legacy he leaves behind.

In the hearts of his family and friends, William Willis Taylor will always be remembered as a steadfast figure of strength, love, and unwavering dedication. He will be deeply missed but forever cherished in our memories.

Bobby "Bob" Kenneth Canter, age 72, passed away on November 14, 2025 at his residence. He was born Febuary 15, 1953 to the late Millard Canter and Hazel McFadden Canter. In addition to his parent's he was preceded in death by his wife, Roseann Mains Canter, and brother, Donald Canter.

Bob held a variety of interests that brought him joy throughout his life. He loved to gamble, particularly enjoying horse races and spending time at casinos. He loved to hunt for ginseng, weedeat and mow. Bob had a keen interest in old westerns, especially enjoying the classic show Gun Smoke. His collection of old lunch boxes and comic books reflected his playful spirit, and he had a deep appreciation for country western music as well as the oldies.

Bob is survived by his daughters, Linda Wilson (Mike), Bonnie Lunsford (Mark), Bobbie Dillard (Kevin), and Lacey Canter (Daniel); his son, Bobby Jr. (Tasha); his sisters, Linda Cogar (Tom) and Janet Leary (William); his brother, Jeff Canter; ten grandchildren, five great-grandchildren, and several nieces, nephews, and cousins and all of his friends at Mountain Ctiy Lumber.

A funeral service for Bob will be conducted at 2:00 PM on Wednesday, November 19, 2025 at Hux & Lipford Funeral Home with Tom Reece to officiate. The family will receive friends from 1:00 PM - 2:00 PM prior to the funeral service. A graveside service will follow in Sunset Memorial Park.

Jack Arnold, Age 81, of Mountain City, passed away Thursday, November 27, 2025. He was born November 8, 1943 to the late Raleigh Duff Arnold and Nell Tester Arnold. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Fern Cable Arnold and brother, Mack Arnold.

Jack was a United States Army Veteran. He loved hunting, fishing, college football and watching westerns, especially Gunsmoke. He was a member of the Cherokee Archery Club and Doe Valley Sportsman Club. He was a member of Evergreen Baptist Church.

Survivors include his daughter, Jackie Lynn Arnold (Jerry Hall); sisters, Mary Bishop and Phyllis Anglemyer; brothers, Johnny Arnold (Teresa) and Jett Arnold; grandchildren, Cayla Meade (Eric Winters) and Megan Meade; nephew Eric Arnold; special friends, Frank Stout, Steve Johnson, Howard Stout, Billy Joe Tester, Johnny Dickens and Bill Hill.

It is with a saddened heart that we announce the passing of our beloved Walter Scotty Gentry, on Tuesday, November 11, 2025. He was born August 1, 1965 to the late Bill Gentry and Violet Miller.

Scotty grew up in Shady Valley, Tennessee, where his family lived for many years. He was a volunteer fire fighter for the Shady Valley Fire Department. Scotty had a big, caring heart, always calling his friends and family to make sure they were all right. He loved his friends and family dearly. They all meant the world to him. Scotty was a big fan of the Tennessee Vols. He enjoyed watching them play football on TV. You could always find him at Mountain City Care and Rehabilitation Center visiting with his brother Carroll, and all his friends who lived and worked there. Scotty was a a member of South Side Baptist Church.

Scotty was preceded in death by his mother Violeet Miller, step-father, Howard Miller and father, Bill Gentry.

Those left to cherish his memory are "sister" Robin Manuel of Mountain City; Tennessee; brother, Carroll Miller of Mountain City, Tennessee; special niece, Dawn Tester and husband, Jeff of Mountain City, Tennessee. Jeff was his go to guy for all things cell phone related; special cousin, Felecia "Cricket" Hoffman-Crum and Fiance Mike Hulbert of St. Petersburg, Florida; many nieces and nephews; all his friends at Mountain City Care and Rehabilitation Center, who took such good care of him and his best friend who he would also consider a brother, Dan Lipford also survives.

A funeral service for Scotty will be conducted at 2:00 PM on Sunday, November 16, 2025 at Hux & Lipford Funeral Home with Tom Reece and Berry Dunn officiating. The family will receive freinds from 1:00 PM - 2:00 PM prior to the funeral service. A graveside service will follow in Shady Valley Memorial Gardens.

Ruth “Ruthie” Vanover Borror passed away the most peacefully on November 10, 2025, after a seven-year journey with dementia. She was born November 22, 1937, to Winston and Della Vanover in Mountain City, Tennessee. She was one of twelve children. She grew up with a robust understanding of family, love, and hard work. She was a homemaker and was well known for her gardening skills. She could grow the prettiest tomatoes and flowers. She was always excited for spring and preparation for planting.

She loved caring for the home, canning, cooking, and cleaning. She had a wealth of knowledge about gardening, farming, and livestock. No weeds were safe in her sight! Ruth was an excellent cook and hostess. She was always wanting to feed you, offer you something. No one will ever top her homemade chicken and dumplings. She was one of the kindest souls who loved the Lord and wanted to serve Him and take care of others. Ruth was a member of the Church of Christ and was a devoted Christian lady.

Ruth was preceded in death by her parents, Winston and Della Vanover, husband, Guy Borror; her son-in-law Brad Reece, sisters Elizabeth Vanover, Bonnie Lewis, Lorene Embert, Vedie Pope, brothers, Jay Vanover, R.B. Vanover, and Robert Vanover.

Ruth is survived by her children, Betty Towles (Jimmy), Richard Wittenberg (Karen), Bonnie Wittenberg, Tina Reece Young (Marshall); grandchildren, Becky Morefield, Richard Wittenberg Jr (Sage), Kaylee Wittenberg (Jack), Gabe Reece, Gavin Reece, and Graham Reece; great grandchildren, Joe Morefield (Tonya), Anthony Morefield, Ritchie Wittenberg, Jensen Wittenberg, Winston Wittenberg, Great-great grandchildren, Jackson Morefield, Levi Morefield; sisters Lois Cox, Ferry (Spencer) Roark, and Ruby Oliver; brother Ralph Vanover and many nieces and nephews.

The family would like to thank the staff at Mountain City Care and Rehabilitation Center, the staff and Johnson County Community Hospital/ER, Johnson County Rescue Squad, and the Angels at Ballad Hospice House (especially: Karen, Alex, Betty, Pam, Jayne, Carolyn, Angela).
