Dorothy Gentry, born on November 12, 1921, passed away on October 29, 2025, at the Mountain City Care Center. She was a beloved member of her community and a dedicated member of First Christian Church. Dorothy had a passion for quilting and gardening. She loved taking care of others and always prioritized attending church services whenever she could. Dorothy had a very kind and giving heart. She had a passion for quilting, gardening and snuff.

Dorothy is survived by her daughter, Janie Trivette (Brian) of Sugar Grove, North Carolina, and her sons, Bob Gentry (Betty) of Mountain City, Tennessee, and Roger Gentry (Wanda) of Mountain City, Tennessee. She also leaves behind thirteen grandchildren, sixteen great-grandchildren, and four great-great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews, daughters-in-law Shelby Gentry (Paul) and Linda Gentry (Bernice); as well as her special friend, Mary Nave.

She was preceded in death by her parents, E.O. Absher and Laura Owens Absher; husband, Eugene Gentry; as well as her daughter, Darlene Dunn, and two sons, Paul Gentry and Burnice Gentry.

Visitation will be held on Saturday, November 1, 2025, from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM, followed by a funeral service at 2:00 PM at Hux & Lipford Funeral Home with Dwayne Dickson to officiate. A graveside service will immediately follow in the Wilson Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be six grandsons.

Honorary pallbearers are her grandchildren, great grandchildren and great- great grandchildren.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff of Mountain City Care and Rehabilitation Center and Gentiva Hospice.

Derek Chambers, beloved father, husband and friend left this life on October 28, 2025 and crossed the rainbow bridge to be with those loved ones who have gone before him. He wsa born August 30, 1950 to the late Cecil Chambers and Janegee Price Chambers.

Derek served his country with honor in the Marines, being a part of the 50th Engineers Battalion in Vietnam, and was also with the 1/9. Later, he continued his service in the US Army, attaining the rank of E-6.

In his life, Derek found great joy in participating in international shooting matches, an activity that showcased his dedication and skill.

He is survived by his beloved wife, Elizabeth Tyler Chambers, with whom he shared 52 wonderful years. He leaves behind two daughters, Shannon Doyle and Francesca Bilyard, as well as three sons, Gregory Chambers, Derek Shawn Chambers, and Eric Benjamin Chambers. Derek also is survived by his sister, Carmelita Rose of Forrest Virginia, and one brother. He was a proud grandfather to seven grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Derek will be missed by his nieces, nephews, and especially his special nephew, Randall (Randy) Hall.

It was Derek's wishes to be cremated and no formal services held.

Robert Leroy Condon born July 29, 1944 to Oscar Gerald Condon and Bernice Alcorn-Owens Condon passed away Thursday, October 23, 2025 at his residence. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his sister; Iona, and brother; Virgil.

He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Gwyn Condon and his children: Christina Gouge and David Ocenasek and Amanda Gutierrez. Grandchildren: Autmn and Shannon Bass and Cory Gouge, Grandchildren: James Jones and Joey Bass, and Brayden and Riley; many great-grandchildren, neices, and nephews and great-nephews and nieces.

Pop loved God, family, and fishing. He would often say that he didn't care if he even caught anything as long as he could fish. Pop traveled all over the United States when he was younger, fishing and hobo-ing along the way. Then he met Grandma and was blessed with many children and grandchildren who loved and admired him. Life wasn't always easy but Pop found a relationship with God and will be with his family for ALWAYS. We love you Pop.

Betty J. Cunningham, age 90 of Mountain City, Tennessee, went home to be with the Lord on October 22, 2025 at Mountain City Care and Rehabilitation Center.

A native of Laurel Bloomery, Tennessee, she was born on November 22, 1934 to the late Stacy Guy Thomas Sr. and Laura Effie Norris Thomas. In addition to her parents, Betty was preceded in death by her husband, David H. Cunningham Jr., three sisters: Marjorie Parker, Ilene Selfe, Alice Pickle; two brothers, Frank Thomas and Stacy Thomas Jr.

Betty loved the military life she experienced with David. Traveling and raising a family in Orlando, FL, Guam, Omaha, NE, Hawaii, and Mountain City, TN. Hawaii was her favorite place, after the mountains of East Tennessee.

Betty was pianist/organist for many church congregations, beginning at Pleasant Home Baptist Church. She played at Cobbs Creek Baptist Church and Butler Baptist Church. It was her great joy to play for church.

Betty is survived by five daughters: Joyce and husband Steve Bailey of Panama City, FL, Sharon and husband Mark Kophamer of Bristol, TN, Jean Ann and husband Doug Poore of Bristol, TN, Tammie Cornett of Mountain City, TN, Alice and husband Kenneth Johnson of Mountain City, TN; two sons: David and wife, Donna cunningham of Panama City, FL; Stacy Cunningham and Jessica Cunningham of Mountain City, TN; one sister, Nancy South of Laurel Bloomery, TN; 21 grandchildren; and 30 great grandchildren. Many nieces and nephews and a host of special friends.

Betty will lie in state from 9:00 AM - 6:00 PM on Tuesday, October, 28, 2025 at Hux & Lipford Funeral Home. A funeral service for Betty will be conducted at 1:00 PM on Wednesday, October 29, 2025 at Hux & Lipford Funeral Home with Reverend Dan Wood officiating. A graveside service will follow in the Acre Field Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be William Poore, Jason Cunningham, Bryan Kophamer, kevin Kophamer, Samuel Kophamer and Mark Kophamer Jr.

Honorary pallbearers are her grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Elizabeth Burroughs, of Butler, Tennessee, passed away Tuesday, October 21, 2025 at her residence. She was born July 13,1942 to the late Edmond Walter Burroughs and Elizabeth Exton Thropp Burroughs.

Elizabeth enjoyed cooking, gardening, canning, and her pets.

The love of her life and soulmate, Erik Meeks survives.

Karen Ann Barr passed away peacefully, surrounded by her family on October 21, 2025 at the age of 75. She will be lovingly remembered for her big heart, her devotion to family and friends, and her steadfast faith in Christ.

Born in Humboldt, Tennessee on July 29, 1950, Karen was the oldest of five children born to Lorene and Ray Barr. Karen cherished her childhood and the foundation her parents gave her at Poplar Heights Baptist Church, where she enjoyed attending church and Bible School.

Karen was named Miss Northside in high school and fulfilled her dream of becoming a beautician in 1968. She later worked for Daniel Construction and married James Reid Hughes, with whom she had three children: Jason, Heather, and Michelle Hughes. Her greatest joy was her family, which grew to include grandsons, Jonathan Hughes, Josh Dunbar, Josiah Hughes, and Andrew Whitaker, as well as several cherished great-grandchildren.

Karen gave generously of her time as a Cub Scout leader and school volunteer when her children were young, and she later served as a devoted volunteer at the Johnson County Center for the Arts. She shared a close bond with her mother, her aunts Patsy and Doris, and her great-aunt Peggy, and always looked forward to attending the Strawberry Festival in her hometown of Humboldt.

A creative spirit, Karen loved crafting—especially with buttons—and was an excellent cook. She enjoyed shopping at craft and thrift stores, sharing good meals, and spending time with loved ones.

Karen had a gift for finding the good in every situation and for brightening the lives of those around her. She faced life with gratitude and grace, leaving behind a legacy of love, kindness, and joy.

Karen was preceded in death by her daughter Heather Hughes, her mother and father, Lorene and Ray Barr, and her brother Tony Barr as well as her Aunt Doris Waldkoetter.

Those left to cherish her memory include her devoted son, Jason Hughes and his fiance Cristy Dunn, daughter Michelle Hughes; brother Kenny Barr and his wife, Sandy, sisters Angie Barr and Jan Barr, late brother Tony’s wife, Sherri Barr; grandsons Jonathan Hughes, Josh Dunbar, Josiah Hughes, and Andrew Whitaker; several great-grandchildren who held a very special place in her heart; great-aunt Peggy Johnson Privitt, aunt Patsy Boyd; nephews Jamie and Kevin Barr, nieces Stacey Barr Reeves and Elisha Barr. Karen also leaves behind Jason’s fiance’s sons Andrew, Kyman, and Jackson Matherly; as well as several special friends, including Temple Reece, Evelyn Cook, Lois Dunn, Anne Perry, Addie Bobbitt; special neighbor Linda Guy; and many friends at Johnson County Senior Center and Johnson County Center for the Arts.

The family will receive friends at the Hux & Lipford Funeral Home from 3:00 to 4:00pm on Saturday, October 25 followed by a funeral service at 4:00pm in the Hux & Lipford Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Steven Spencer officiating. A graveside service will follow at Sunset Memorial Park.

Pallbearers will include Kenny Barr, Jamie Barr, Jonathan Hughes, Andrew Whitaker, Josh Dunbar, Josiah Hughes, and Andrew and Kyman Matherly.

Earl Campbell, age 74, of Mountain City, Tennessee, passed away at his residence on October 19, 2025. He was born September 21, 1951 to the late Bud Campbell and Lena Ruth Roark Campbell. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his daughter, Lena Marie Campbell; step-sons, Rodney Eller and Joe Joe Eller; and grandson, Joseph Aron "Tinky" Furchess.

Earl dedicated much of his life as an ordained minister, serving his community with compassion and care. He also worked as over-the-road truck driver for an impressive 52 years, allowing him to explore many parts of the country. Additionally, he was skilled in logging, contributing to the industry with hard work and dedication.

In his personal life, Earl cherished spending time with his family. He was a devoted husband to his wife, Kathy Campbell, and a proud father to his daughters, Crystal Meadows (Britt) and Gracie Osborne (Luke), as well as his son, Eric Campbell (Crystal) and step-daughter, Heather Eller. He found joy in being a grandfather to Aleena, Nathaniel, Austin, and Tyler, sharing many special moments with them.

Earl was fondly remembered for his hobbies and interests. He enjoyed hunting and fishing, and he had a passion for motorcycles, particularly Triumphs. In his early years, he loved riding and training horses, creating wonderful memories with his many favorite horses. Earl’s loyal companion, his dog Tucker, brought him much happiness.

Earl is survived by his siblings, Linda McQueen (David), Jerry Campbell (Pat), Rick Campbell (Kimra), Gerald Campbell (Patty), and Terry Campbell, along with several nieces, nephews, and cousins who also survive him.

A visitation for Earl will take place at Hux & Lipford Funeral Home on October 23, 2025, from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM, followed by a funeral service at 12:00 PM with Steven Spencer to officiate and Gracie Campbell to Eulogize. Following the funeral service family and friends are asked to assemble at 1:45 PM at Shady Valley Memorial Gardens for the graveside service. At other times friends may call the residence at 516 Eller Road, Mountain City, Tennessee.

Pallbearers will be Nathaniel Summerow, Luke Osborne, Buddy Campbell, Britt Meadows, Rick Campbell and Gerald Campbell.

Honorary pallbearers are Jerry Campbell, Lynn Campbell and Terry Campbell.

It is with sadness that we announce the passing of Tony Holman, affectionately known as "Stove Pipe." He was born on May 6, 1948, and left us on October 14, 2025.

Tony enjoyed working on lawn mowers, cutting wood, and riding motorcycles. He looked forward to every year’s Car and Bike shows, where he shared his enthusiasm for all things on wheels.

Tony is survived by his daughters, Ann Roder and Ruth Forrrestser (Ray); his sons, Tim Holman (Sandra), Michael Holman (Anastasia), and Mike Harden. He also leaves behind several grandchildren, several great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Clifford Holman and Flora Brown Holman; his granddaughter, Jennifer Carol Holman; and his siblings, including sisters Bessie Mae Farrel and Ensa Stanley, and brothers Ben Holman, Sylvester Holman, Bill Holman, and Glen Holman.

Tony's presence will be deeply missed by all who knew him.

A celebration of Life service for Tony will be held at a later day. At other times friends may visit the home of his son, Tim Holman at 399 Hamby Lane, Mountain City, Tennessee.

Linda "Nana Maw" Sue Dugger, 61, lost her battle with a brief illness on October 13, 2025. She was born in Dekalb, IL on December 8, 1963 to Jimmy Butler Dugger and Carolyn Sue Sellman Dugger. In April 1969, they moved to the Doe Valley community of Mountain City, TN where she grew up on the family farm. Linda loved anything with elephants and hummingbirds. She was very creative and enjoyed painting, designing jewelry, making, and writing poetry. Her most recent endeavor was creating beautiful wire jewelry pieces. She loved being outdoors and rock hunting anywhere she went. Along with her rock finds, she collected marbles and dice. She especially liked miniature trickets and would often show her new ones. She enjoyed watching movies and spending time with her partner and best friend, Jake, and their pup, Sweet Pea.

Linda had been disabled due to several back surgeries, but in her working years she took pride in being a CNA and also a millwright. When she was younger she worked at Levis and Timberland.

The family was blessed to enjoy four generations. Linda was most proud of her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She had special names for each of them. She showed love to everyone and always offered help or a place to stay. Her peanut butter fudge was the best ever.

Linda was preceded in death by her "soulmate", her husband of 11 years, Billy Dugger. Her son-in-law Marvin Roush II; son-in-law, Robbie Osborne; her parents, grandparents, several aunts and uncles, and her beloved pup, Zoey-Bug.

Those left to cherish her memory include her partner, Jake Harman of the home; children, LaVonna Roush-Baby Girl (Joey), Stephin Dunn Jr-Shine (Jerri) and Pauletta Dunn Forrester-Beau Dawn (Doug), Ginger Shoemaker, and David Cooper; grandchildren and great grandchildren,
Tessa Roush-Deloach-Cherry-Plum (Allen), Alice Roush-Deloach; Kiely Roush-Ky Baby, Oliver Roush-Chunky Monkey, Sawyer Roush, Addie Roush-Addie Boo, Teigan AShley-Tee, Bug AShley-Beetle Bug, Brianna Dunn-Breezy, Stephin Dunn III-Tripp, Emma Dunn-Floozy, Zayden Dunn, Zailee Dunn, Natalie Dunn-Nat Fly, Kandra Shelton-Kandi-Shell, Azarei Shelton, Azavia Shelton, Synthia Shelton-Synni-Sunshine, Robbie Osborne-Duce, Carlie Dunn-Buttercup, Ryker Osborne-Tonka, and two great grandchildren on the way.

A funeral service for Linda will be conducted at 2:00 PM on Wednesday, October 22, 2025 at Rainbow Mennonite Church with Gary Gambill and Jake Harman to officiate. The family will receive friends from 1:00 PM - 2:00 PM prior to the funeral service. A graveside service will follow in the Dugger Family Cemetery.

Linda Davis Campbell, age 63, of Butler, TN; went home to be with her Lord and Savior on October 7, 2025. She was of the baptist faith. Linda was born on October 28,1961 to the late Linda Sue Davis. In addition to her mother, she was preceded in death by an infant son, Cody and daughter, Sarah Campbell and three brothers, Stuart Davis, William Davis and Keith Davis

Linda loved taking care of their home and cooking big meals for her family and having them all together. She loved making crafts, yard saling and her farm animals. Her favorite thing was to spend time with her grandkids.

Paul Price, age 58, of Mountain City, TN, passed away on October 5, 2025 at the Bristol Regional Medical Center. He was born on February 8, 1967, in Bristol, TN to Charlie Price and Sarah Elizabeth Dillard Price.

Paul was a man of many passions. He loved to cook and enjoyed canning, sharing the fruits of his labor with those close to him. His adventurous spirit found him hunting, fishing, and camping in the beautiful landscapes of Tennessee. A devoted sports fan, he was particularly fond of the Tennessee Volunteers Football team, cheering on his favorite players with enthusiasm.

His generous nature was well-known; Paul had a heart that loved many and held a deep faith in the Lord. He was a guiding light for his family and friends, offering kindness, support, and a listening ear whenever needed.

Paul is survived by his loving sisters, Debbie Brown of Bristol, TN; Sarah Mahala Cress of Mountain City, TN; and Osa Dowell of Bristol, TN. He also leaves behind his brothers, Frank Price of Bristol, TN; Kenny Price of Mountain City, TN; and Mark Price of Bristol, TN. Additionally, he is survived by several nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews, and great great nieces and nephews, as well as a host of special friends who will miss his warmth and infectious spirit.

He was preceded in death by his brother, Charles Price.

A Celebration of Life honoring Paul will be held on Saturday, October 11, 2025, from 1:00 PM to 4:00 PM at Trade School Mills, located at 228 Modock Road, Trade, TN 37691. This gathering will be an opportunity for his loved ones to reflect on his vibrant spirit and the joy he brought to their lives. Everyone is invited and asked to bring a covered dish.
