Goldie "Alice" DeHart, born on May 1, 1943, in Paint Bank, Virginia, passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by her children on March 15, 2026, in Parkesburg, Pennsylvania. She was preceded in death by her husband, Gerald Caton DeHart. She was a cherished woman whose favorite joy in life was spending precious time with her family and loved ones.

Alice's warmth and care extended beyond her immediate circle, reflected in her heartfelt love for cooking and her tender nurturing of flowers. These activities brought her great comfort and joy, allowing her to express her loving nature in simple yet meaningful ways.

She was the beloved daughter of the late John Worley Norris and Nannie Mae Church Norris, whose memories she held close throughout her life. Those left to cherish her memory are her devoted children: Steven DeHart of North East, MD, Ruth Weeks of Quarryville, PA, Theresa Potts (Christopher) of Gap, PA and Patrick DeHart of North East, MD; two sisters: Wilma Dowell of Mountain City, TN and Earlena Rivera of Calvert, MD. As well as eight grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her son-in-law, Wilson E. Weeks and her siblings Robert "Bob" Norris, John Worley "Joe" Norris Jr., William Calvin Norris, and Marie Porter.

Her family meant everything to her, and she found her greatest happiness in their company. Sunday family dinners and her homemade hot dinner rolls were always a hit!

Alice’s life was a testament to the beauty of love, family, and the comfort found in everyday moments. Those who knew her will remember her gentle spirit, sense of humor and the kindness she extended so freely. Her legacy lives on through the lives she touched and the family she so deeply adored.

A funeral service for Alice will be conducted at 2 PM on Saturday, March 21, 2026 at Hux & Lipford Funeral Home with Bubba Cannon to officiate. The family will receive friends from 1 PM to 2 PM prior to the funeral service. Burial will immediately follow in the Brown cemetery.

Arthur Blaine Ward passed away on 13 March 2026, surrounded by those who loved him. Hewas born on the 28th of September 1948 to Martha and Blaine Ward of Sugar Grove NC. Arthur was a simple man who loved the lord and was a member of Piney Grove Baptist Church where he enjoyed services and fellowship. He was a master carpenter for 35 years completing many projects in Watauga County and the surrounding area. Through Ward Construction he touched so many lives and left a legacy that will stand the test of time. Arthur loved his family and spending time with them. He could always be seen happy around his family and playing jokes on them. He enjoyed working on and building tractors that he liked to bring to surrounding tractor shows. He also enjoyed a good, sweet snack on the couch watching crime or car shows, sometimes taking a small nap. He will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved him.

He was preceded in death by his parents, His former wife and friend Alice Ward, an infant daughter Diana Ward, and stepson Michael Frederick.

Those left to cherish Arthur’s memory include his wife of 20 years Debbie, daughter Pamela Stout (Perry), son Eddie Ward (Amber), daughter Stephanie Ward, stepchildren, Samantha Lipford (Blaine) and Matthew Fredrick (Jessica), brothers Hubert Ward, James Ward (Linda), Tommy Ward, and Richard Ward (Kat), sisters Sandra Ward, Caroline Ward, and Tina Ward. 13 grandchildren, 4 great grandchildren, and several beloved nieces and nephews.

Arthur’s family will be receiving friends on Saturday 21 st of March 2026 from 1pm to 3pm, then a funeral service at Austin and Barnes Funeral Home to be followed by a graveside internment in the family cemetery in Sugar Grove. Pallbearers will be Richard Ward, Eddie Ward, William Greene, Matthew Frederick, Abel Frederick, Laythan McClure, Tim Miller and Perry Stout. Honorary Pallbearers will be Jim Ward, Brian Presnell, Hunter Shook, Griffin Brown, and Tommy Ward.

Special thanks to Dr. Vaidya, Dr. Seegars, Dr. Satterfield-Mercer, Dr. Harrison, and the ICU care team at Winston Baptist Hospital for their extraordinary service to Arthur and the family during this most difficult time.

Dallas Keenan, age 55, of Mountain City, TN went home to be with the Lord on Saturday morning March 7, 2026 at Johnston Memorial Hospital. Born on July 18, 1970 to Robert "Speed" Keenan and Antonett M. Hession Keenan-Vargha.

In addition to his parents, Dallas was preceded in death by his step-father, Joe Vargha.

Survivors include the love of his life for 25 years, Anna; brother, Paul (Lisa) Vargha and kids of Sarasota, Fl; sister, Trever Keenan Van Banbatavia and husband Randy and kids of Menagha, MN, Vivien Spencer and kids of Phoenix, AZ; extended family members included Anna's family, Kim Dickens, Eddie Dickenss, Barbara Long, Johnny and Amy Dickens, Kenneth and Carla Dickens; special nieces including Amanda Long, Mary Long, Nancy Reece, Alora Hampton, McKinley Ferguson, Kenzie Dickens; nephews, Colton Grindstaff, Brayden Dickens, Matt Dickens, Bobby Sexton, Trever Reece, Tucker Long, Rickey Barber among many more including his canine campions, Jack, Pocahontas and Crypto.

Mrs. Janice Mae Dugger McGuire, 81, went to her Heavenly home on Friday, March 6, 2026, surrounded by her loving family.

She was born on December 11, 1944, in Butler, the daughter of Lee Roy (Doc) Dugger and Mae Della Dugger. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 29 years William (Bill) McGuire, and by her sister, Edith Dugger Vannoy.

Janice’s life and memories will forever be cherished by her son, William (Billy) McGuire and daughter-in-law, April Ross McGuire of Johnson City; daughter, Tina McGuire Regn and son-in- law, Jason Regn of Hickory, NC; sister Carra Lea Dugger McGuire of North Charleston, SC; her beloved grandchildren: Ruby Mae McGuire, Carra Belle McGuire, Iris Cordelia McGuire, Zachary Douglas Regn, and several nieces and nephews.

Janice was a proud graduate of Johnson County High School, and a beloved home health nurse for over 20 years. She was a very active member of Sugar Grove Baptist Church which she loved with all her heart and spent many years worshipping and serving the Lord there.

She was also a lifelong Tennessee Volunteers fan and spent every Saturday in the fall cheering on the football team. She was especially fond of Payton Manning, who she claimed as her “son.”

The family would like to express their thanks to the employees of Sycamore Springs Assisted Living, Ivy Hall Nursing Home, and Sycamore Shoals hospital, for taking such good care of their beloved mother, sister, and grandmother.

A memorial service will be held Tuesday, March 10, 2026, at Hux-Lipford Funeral Home, Mountain City, at 2pm. The family will receive friends beginning one hour before the service. The graveside service will be held afterward at the cemetery at Sugar Grove Baptist Church.

Pallbearers will be Jason Regn, Zachary Regn, Steve Cunningham, Kermit Dugger, David Fletcher, and Jim Greenwell.

Honorary pallbearers are Freddie Vannoy, Charles Vannoy, Tim Gauen and Curt Gauen.

Robert Ray Wilcox, aged 83, passed away on March 4, 2026, at Johnston Memorial Hospital, leaving a legacy of love and cherished memories in the hearts of his family and friends. Born on April 17, 1942, in Johnson County, Tennessee, Robert was a remarkable individual whose zest for life touched everyone around him.

He is survived by his devoted wife, Jana Lee Wilcox, and his beloved daughter and sons, Tammy Lee Branch, Jeff Wilcox, Greg Wilcox, and Chip Wilcox. Robert took great joy in being a father and was known as the greatest dad ever to his children. His family also includes his adoring grandchildren: Jeffrey, April, Chrissy, Brittany, Caden, Lily, Tyler and Dalton. Furthermore, he was blessed with great-grandchildren, Hunter, Alyssa, Macey, Josey, and Tyler "Little T", all of whom brought immense joy into his life. He also leaves behind several nieces and nephews who will remember him fondly.

Robert was preceded in death by his parents, William Taft Wilcox and Selma Wilcox. He was also reunited in eternal rest with his siblings, including sisters and brothers Ola Mae, Della, Mary, Maxine, Peanut, Ilene, Naomi, Carolyn, John, Ed, and J.B.

A man of deep faith, Robert was a dedicated member of Calvary Baptist Church, where he gathered not only to worship but to build meaningful connections within his community. His passions extended to the great outdoors, where he took pleasure in mowing grass and gardening. A familiar face in the community, he often drove the milk truck, bringing smiles to those he encountered. He cherished simple joys like going to town and visiting family and friends. These activities allowed him to stay connected with his loved ones, reaffirming the importance he placed on family bonds. Robert also grew to***co until production stopped in Johnson County and worked at factories including Burlington and Thomasville Furniture and other factories throughout the years.

A funeral service for Robert will be conducted on at 3:00 PM on Sunday, March 8, 2026 at Calvary Baptist Church with Steven Spencer, Shannon Courtner, and Rick Thomason officiating. The family will receive friends from 1:00 PM - 3:00 PM prior to the funeral service. A graveside service will immediately follow in the Johnson Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Scott Wilcox, Mason Wilcox, Zek Watson, Jeffrey Wilcox, Bo Fritts, Hunter McElyea, Gary Wilcox, and Brady Fritts.

Donnie C. Potter Jr., born on September 20, 1963, in Elizabethton, Tennessee, passed away peacefully in his hometown on March 3, 2026. He was a devoted servant of the Lord and a member of God's House Full Gospel Church,

Donnie cherished spending time with his beloved grandbaby, Leigha Nicole Roark, who brought immense joy to his life. His love for family extended beyond blood; he nurtured lasting relationships with many friends who became like family to him.

He is survived by his wife who was the love of his life, Rhonda Potter; his daughter, Jamie Star Dew; his sisters, Penny Perkins (Frank), Helen Church (Bob), Judy Pass (Danny), and Edith Wilson (Harold); his mother-in-law, Rebecca Kay Holt (Ernie); along with several nieces and nephews. Among his special friends are Daniel Branch, Lynn Bennett (Caroline), Jerry Davis (Rosie), Judy Bennett, and Margaret Woods, all of whom will deeply miss his kind presence.

Donnie had a passion for fishing and deer hunting, pursuits that allowed him to appreciate the beauty of nature and spend quality time with loved ones. He will be remembered for his warm spirit and love for church and family.

Marian Louise Proffitt Osborne age 91 of Creston the Little Laurel Community passed away Sunday, March 1, 2026 at Watauga Medical Center. She was born in Johnson County, TN to the late Fred and Gladys Simcox Proffitt. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by, her husband, Delmar William Osborne, brother, Daniel Proffitt, half brother, Jones Leonard Proffitt, and her sister Grace Davis.

Marian Osborne was lovingly raised by her mother, Gladys, and her maternal grandparents, Stacy and Villa Simcox, who helped shape the strong faith and caring spirit she carried throughout her life. Faith was the foundation of Marian’s heart. She was a devoted member of Hammons Chapel Christian Church and could often be found worshipping with friends at Little Laurel Church, Big Laurel Mennonite Church, or Pleasant Hill Church. Marian dearly loved the Lord and cherished her quiet mornings spent reading her Bible.

She was active in her community through the Riverview Community Center until her health no longer allowed, where she especially enjoyed Bible studies, fellowship as a member of the Riverview Red Hats and working with the foster grandparent program. Marian found great joy in simple pleasures—soaking up the sunshine on her front porch with a bottle of her favorite sweet tea, welcoming visits from her nieces, nephews, and cousins, and sharing laughter and memories. Always adventurous and willing to try anything, she especially treasured annual family vacations.

Marian was eagerly anticipating the arrival of her new great-grand baby and had already prepared a new rocking chair with love and excitement. The family extends heartfelt gratitude to her neighbors and friends who faithfully helped and checked on Marian, especially during Hurricane Helene. Her gentle faith, loving presence, and quiet strength will be deeply missed by all who knew her.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, March 4, 2026 at 7:00 pm at Hammons Chapel Christian Church by Pastor Josh Giddings. The family will receive friends from 5:30 until 7:00 pm prior to the service at Hammons Chapel. A private burial will be at a later date in the Osborne Cemetery.

Mrs. Osborne is survived by: two sons, Philip Osborne (Lynn) of Millers Creek and Mark Osborne (Dianna) of SC, one daughter, Amy Dowell (Jeff) of Mountain City, TN; six grandchildren: Danielle Osborne, Kimberly Earp (Randy), Morgan Osborne, Will Osborne, Dakota Dowell (Izzy) and Austin Dowell; half sister, Diana O'Dell (Wayne) of Jonesboro, TN, two half brothers, Edwin Proffitt (Linda) and Dwight Proffitt (Regina) both of Elizabethton, TN and several nieces and nephews also survive.

Anna Jane Stout Lewis, passed away peacefully at her home surrounded by her loved ones, on March 1st, 2026 at the age of 79.

She was baptized and saved by Jesus Christ. She was a faithful member of Calvary Baptist Church and Antioch Baptist Church for many years. She loved all of her dogs and cats as well as sitting around the table talking and spending time with her family. She also loved doing word search puzzles and reading her bible. She was known for her kindness, graciousness, and compassion.

She was proceded in death by two sons: Andy Greer and Randy lewis; parents, Mae and Bob Stout; a brother, Dan Stout and a nephew, Robert Norris.

Anna is survived by her husband of 50 plus years, Vonelly Lewis; three children, Linda Williams (Stacy), William Lewis, And Dennis Lewis all of Mountain City, Tennessee; four grandchildren, Louanna, Bobbianne, Little Stacy (Cynthia), all of Mountain City, Tennessee and Devin Greer of Damascus, Virginia; four great grandchildren: Jonathan and Mason of Mountain City, Tennessee and Brianne and Andrew of Damascus, Virginia; sisters and brothers: Lucy and Millard Norris, Jim and Sandy Stout, Frank and Nancy Stout, Bobby and the late Carla Stout and Dick and Jewell Stout; several nieces and nephews; and her loyal and faithful companion, Ellie and special friend, Rose Morefield.

Norman David Miller Jr., lovingly known as "Boogie" passed away peacefully in his bed on February 27, 2026.

Boogie was the kind of person who filled the room before he even spoke and once he did, laughter followed. He had a natural gift for humor and a heart that was even bigger than his smile. He loved making people laugh and never missed a chance to lift someone's spirits. Helping others came natually to him. If somone needed a hand, Boogie was already there. He was a proud daddy's boy and the absolute center of his parents world. The love between Boogie and his family was fierce, constant, and unmistakable.

He is survived by his father Norman Miller Sr. and stepmother Tammy; his mother Peggy Anderson, and his stepfather Ken; his papaw Norman E Miller; his grandmother, Sandra Newman; his brothers, Cameron Newman and wife Jaleesa, Codty Newman and wife Wanda; his brother Theo Hensley and sister Samantha Roark. His beloved nieces and nephews who adored their uncle Boogie; Ezrah, JoJo, Anyah, Aaliyah, Ariana, Aliza, and Easton. His cousins, Garrett Dukenski, Courtney Guizzotti, Tyler Dujenski, and Alisia Dujenski.

Lersa Diane Ward Hodge (Lesa) passed away on February 17, 2026 after a lengthy illness. Lesa was born on October 5, 1962 in Elizabethton, TN to Marrson Sue Greenwell Ward and Bob D. Ward. Lesa liked to sew, garden, can, and spend time with her friends and family.

Lesa is preceded in death by her son Jerry Dean Hodge, Jr. Her parents Marrson Sue Greenwell Ward, and Bob D. Ward. Siblings Rick Ward, Tim Ward, and Debra Hatley. Grandparents Elsie Greenwell, and Tine Greenwell. Several special aunts and uncles.

With heavy hearts we announce the passing of our beloved brother, uncle, and friend. Clifford Wayne Parsons passed away on February 15th, 2026 at the age of 77. He was born on June 25th, 1948 in Mountain city, Tennessee to the late Roderick Filmore Parsons and the late Etta Mae (Payne) Parsons.

He enjoyed spending his time outdoors, fishing, working in his garden and sharing the bounty with friends and family.

Clifford was proceeded in death by his brothers-in-law Donald Joseph McDermott, and John Thomas McPherson Sr. and by his niece Jennifer Jean McPherson and nephews Roger Glenn Parsons, Jr., Anthony Ray McPherson.

He leaves behind to cherish his memory 3 brothers Roger Glenn Parsons, Sr. (Shirley), James Edward Parsons (Debra), and Daniel Ray Parsons (Darleena Kaye) and his 3 sisters Jane Warren (Jeff), Norma Jean McPherson, Mary Ann McDermott and nurmerous nieces and nephews.

A funeral service for Clifford will be conducted at 3:00 PM on Sunday, February 22, 2026, at Hux & Lipford Funeral Home with Pastor Steve Playl of the Mountain City Presbyterian Church to officiate. The family will receive friends from 1:00 PM - 3:00 PM prior to the funeral service. A private burial will be in Reece Memorial Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be his nepheews Joseph McDermott, Nathan McDermott, Daniel Horrell, Tommy Freeman, Collin Parsons, Buddy Horn.

Honorary Pallbearers are his nephews John McPherson, Jr., Roderick Cornett, Donald Cornett, Bradley Parsons, Nathan Creger, Stephen Hagen.
