Forty years. One incredible journey. 💙

When Vicki Buckley first walked through the doors of Summerfield, she was excited — and understandably a little apprehensive. Four decades later, she has worn many hats: nurse aide, medication technician, receptionist, activities assistant, and activities director.

What’s never changed? Her heart for people.

Vicki has built lasting relationships with residents, listening to their stories (whether for the first time or the hundredth) and sharing her own adventures right back. For her, this has never been “just a job.” It’s a calling rooted in something her father told her years ago: If you find something you love to do and you do it well, you will be successful.

Her advice for anyone entering healthcare:
“We are humans taking care of humans. Is it always easy? No. Is it rewarding? Yes — a million times over.”

And her favorite reminder:
“They may forget your name, but they will never forget how you made them feel.”

Thank you, Vicki, for 40 years of compassion, commitment, and heart. ✨

What inspires someone to step into leadership in long-term care?

We asked Ann Reed, Administrator at Mayfair Manor:
“Why did you choose to become a long-term care administrator?”

For Ann, it’s about relationships — building trust with residents and families, supporting her team, and guiding her center toward excellence in care.

Her “why” is rooted in service, compassion, and the belief that strong leadership changes lives. She loves her job!

Thank you, Ann, for the difference you make each day.

During Long Term Care Administrator’s Week, we’re highlighting the “why” behind our leaders.

When asked, “Why did you choose to become a long-term care administrator?” Lakyn Harper, Administrator at Westmoreland Care & Rehabilitation Center, shared that she was drawn to the opportunity to make a lasting impact — not only on residents, but on the teams who care for them every day.

For Lakyn, leadership in aging services is about advocacy, growth, and creating a culture where everyone can thrive.

We’re grateful for your commitment, Lakyn!

Integrity isn’t just a word — it’s action.

This week’s Sacred 7 Challenge is all about Follow Through Friday.

Think about one commitment you’ve been putting off — a conversation, a project, a promise. Now choose to complete it before the week ends.

Integrity means we do what we say we’ll do. Every time. Even when it’s hard.

During Long Term Care Administrators Week, we’re especially grateful for the leaders across our communities who model integrity every day — following through on their commitment to residents, families, and team members.

✔️ Finish the task.
✔️ Make the call.
✔️ Keep the promise.

What’s one commitment you’ll follow through on this week?

In honor of Long Term Care Administrator's Week, we asked our leaders:

“Why did you choose to become a long-term care administrator?”

For Jessica Shelton, Administrator at Signature HealthCARE of Rogersville, the answer is simple — purpose and people.

Jessica chose this path to serve residents in a meaningful way while leading a team that feels like family. Every day, she has the opportunity to make a difference in the lives of others — and that’s what makes the role so rewarding.

Thank you, Jessica, for leading with heart. 💙

Mountain City Care & Rehabilitation Center hosted a Valentine's party on Friday 13th with the crowning of King - Johnny Brown and Queen - Paula Manuel. Special singing was provided by Randy Dandurand while food was enjoyed by staff and residents. During the busy schedule for our residents during Valentine's week, they took time to enjoy a game of "whack a mole" created and setup by the activities department. A lot of laughs were made with this activity. Putting smiles on the faces of residents is worth every moment that we can make it happen.
