No matter how you slice it, I am profoundly grateful for your business and so very thankful for the referrals. Thank you for trusting me with your care 🧡

However you may find yourself on Thanksgiving, I hope you feel a sense of peace and contentment . . . and enjoying a piece of pie 🥧

As we enter into a new week, I invite you and your partner to engage in an exercise of gratitude and appreciation.

Each day, leading up to Thanksgiving, write down one thing you appreciate about your partner. It could be a word, a sentence (or two), or even a memory. On Thanksgiving, take turns sharing what you appreciate about one another.

Taking intentional time to think positively about one another acts as a buffer during conflicts. Having a more positive view of your partner can override negative feelings, making it easier to be patient, give the benefit of the doubt, and have constructive conversations.

Drs John & Julie Gottman call this "positive sentiment override," and it's an essential component for healthy and happy relationships.

While it might seem like you and your partner argue about chores or parenting, there are much deeper reasons behind the constant cycle disconnect and conflict 💥

Let's be real, you're not arguing about the dirty dishes 🥣 and laundry🧺. You're hurt and upset because you feel unseen, unheard, or alone.

In Emotionally Focused Couples Therapy, we look beneath the surface issues to find the deeper messages:

"Do I still matter to you?" 🥺

"Are you there when I need you?" 😨

I help couples shift from the blame game and "find the bad guy," to a place of safety, where both partners can reconnect and find healing ❤️‍🩹

📌 What’s one thing you wish your partner understood about you during an argument?

Honoring those who have (and continue) to serve is at the heart of my counseling practice.

As a veteran, I truly do understand the unique stressors and sacrifices military personnel (and their families) face on a regular basis.

As a special thank you to our nation's heroes, I offer a deeply discounted rate for my military clients - not just on Veterans Day, but all year round.
