I would like to address the recent volume of misinformation and speculation circulating about equine insurance. It can be overwhelming to keep up with, and I want to be sure you have clear, reliable information regarding your policy.
If you have any questions about your current coverage, the most direct approach is to call your agent. If your agent is unable to provide clear answers, contact the claims department for coverage questions. As agents, our role is to advocate for our insured clients—not just during uncertain times, but always. If your agent cannot provide answers, that should raise concerns.
For my part, I have held multiple conversations with my underwriters and claims adjusters to guarantee that I am providing my clients with the most accurate and up-to-date information possible.
Please know that the insurance companies I work with are genuinely committed to doing right by our insured horses and clients; they are not trying to mislead you. I can only speak for the carriers I underwrite with, but their priority is fair and responsible service.
