😵💫HORMONE CHAOS🙍🏻♂️🙎🏽♀️
Think of your hormones in a pyramid. At the very bottom is cortisol and that is the foundation of all hormones. A very close second is insulin… and the rest of the hormones follow the hierarchy. The problem is that most people have chronically high cortisol, which elevates insulin, which then affects the rest of the downstream hormones. This could be why you’re eating well, exercising, taking supplements- but still not seeing results! Chronic caloric deficits, low protein intake, exercising too much, not exercising enough, chronic stress, poor natural light exposure, not absorbing nutrients from food, etc can all affect cortisol being either too high or too low. You need to find out where the chain broke down and target that hormone first. Everyone is usually worried about estrogen, progesterone, and testosterone so then you start hormone replacement therapy. But it is only a bandaid because the most foundational hormones are out of balance. Cortisol and insulin are extremely overlooked- if ever even mentioned. But to truly heal, we must look at everything as a whole, not individual parts.
