Smart Shoe Insoles + Apple Watch app
-
was able to sync his smart shoe insoles (Missions) to his Apple Watch! Similar to the last post, this demo shows three different use cases for the insoles.
-
1. Lean in all directions to move a ball on the screen ( ) using each insole’s pressure sensor data.
-
2. Use each foot independently to balance a two balls ( ) using each insole’s pressure sensor data.
-
3. Move each foot in space to reorient the of two cubes in a fixed position ( ) using each insole’s IMU data.
-
Use cases for these features include balance, posture, athletic performance (e.g. kicking a ball, sprinting, walking, jumping, lunging), and any activity that requires you to move... we’re looking forward to implementing these in the future! Let us know what you would use the Missions for!

Streaming Smart Shoe Insole Data
-
and demo’d the smart shoe insoles at last week. The smart shoe insoles interface with a web app that reads BLE data (i.e. pressure sensors and accelerometer/gyroscope data) and animates cubes and sliders on the screen. What’s crazy is that if you open the same stream url in your browser, you can see real-time updates to the cubes rotating or the squares translating!
-
The visuals help illustrate what kind of data the smart shoe insoles can provide if you’re standing on the insoles (e.g. weight, pressure, stance) or orienting your feet in the air (e.g. foot orientation, pronation, gait).
