We’re proud to share the latest publication from the Sharma Lab, an important step forward in the science of aging.

This study identifies an aberrant localization of the protein LAMP1 on the surface of senescent cells. Cells that presented LAMP1 on the surface showed clear signs of having a senescent/aged phenotype. The team was able to target LAMP1 on the surface of senescent cells to eliminate them.

Thanks to Dr. Colwyn Headley of Stanford University for joining the LRI Research team for a seminar on advancing mitochondrial therapies for aging!

His presentation explored how mitochondrial dysfunction drives age-related diseases, and how targeted mitochondrial transplantation, using a receptor-mediated delivery system, could restore cellular function and enable scalable treatments for conditions like immunosenescence, heart failure, and neurodegeneration.

New insights into immune-based senolytics from the Sharma Lab at Lifespan Research Institute.
