Theodore Michael "Ted" Jones, 73, of Fairfield Bay, Arkansas, passed away December 26th, 2025, surrounded by his family....
12/29/2025

Theodore Michael "Ted" Jones, 73, of Fairfield Bay, Arkansas, passed away December 26th, 2025, surrounded by his family. He was born November 15th, 1952, in San Diego, California, to the late Robert E. Lee Jones and Martha Joan (Marovich) Jones.

Ted’s mother was a Yugoslav, an Old World Catholic; hence, he was a cradle Catholic. He attended parochial school and was proud to serve as an altar boy.

Ted was proud to claim a military background: “all Navy, going back to ’29, and before that, Army, going back to General Washington at Yorktown.” He himself served in the US Navy in Japan for four years. Following that, he returned to school, graduating Cal State Long Beach with a bachelor’s degree in Engineering. He worked at Boeing for 40 years and retired only in recent years.

As a youth, Ted developed into an avid outdoorsman. He loved hunting in the woods, deer and elk. More than once, during school Christmas breaks, he disappeared, solo, to engage in trapping beaver and camping in blizzards! More than once, when he didn’t report home for 1-2 weeks, his dad secretly went to check up on him and make sure he was safe. As he grew older, his field of activity grew, and as many of his friends will attest, he was particularly fond of fishing, and most especially at Lake LaCroix in Ontario. He also enjoyed classical Western movies. In 1976 Ted met and married Yukie Iizuka in Japan. They had two beautiful daughters, Erika and Mari.

Ted was a man of God. Faith and Family were outstanding in his life. Following the Vatican II debacle Ted clung to his Faith alone. When his first daughter survived a difficult birth he doubled down on living the traditional Catholic Faith. He insisted that his daughters learn their Faith, and practice it. Erika will vouch that he pursued them relentlessly, always ending conversations with “Are you wearing your scapular? Are you praying before you go to bed? Are you praying your Rosary?” This concern extended to his siblings, friends, and many, many acquaintances as well. Ted was an avid student of history: family history, church history, US history. He would give his daughter two-three hour lectures on church history. “He could go on for hours!”

Ted is survived by his wife and daughters, also by his older siblings: Robert (Joyce) of Sanger CA, Richard of Silver City, NM, Nancy Ulmer (Robert) of Santa Barbara, and younger siblings: Maribeth Jones of Eugene, OR & Kristy Cronin of Burns, OR. His nephew Robert William Sorensen (Casa Robles, CA) was very dear to his heart. He was exceptionally fond of his three grandchildren, who during the last weeks gathered around his bed and prayed the Rosary daily. Ted was well prepared for death. In the final months, he was able to receive the Sacraments several times. His Catholic friends stayed in touch with him, and it is questionable who was more uplifted by these visits.

Ted will be sorely missed by family and friends. Please pray, “Eternal rest grant unto him, O Lord, and let perpetual light shine upon him.”

A funeral mass will be held Tuesday, December 30th, 2025, at Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church, beginning at 10:00 am, with Father Timothy Geckle officiating. Interment will take place at the Historic Cemetery of Mountain View.

Funeral arrangements are entrusted to Mountain View Funeral Service.

Dr. William (Bill) Montgomery Malloy was born on August 17, 1940, in Grand Rapids, Michigan, grew up in Bexley, Ohio, and passed away on November 26, 2025, in Mountain View, Arkansas, after 85 well-lived years. Born to John Reynolds Malloy and Grace Montgomery Malloy, he is survived by his siblings John Malloy (Jane), Steve Malloy, and Cathleen Felger (Ron); his children Melissa Osborne (Dan), Erin Powell (Aaron), Emily Lund (David), and Ryan Malloy (Nicole); ten grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; his former wife, Sarah Malloy; and his significant other of nearly 30 years, Lynn Malloy.

A proud graduate of Denison University, Wittenberg University, and The Ohio State University, Bill devoted his decades-long career to higher education, serving as Dean of Students and Vice President at several colleges and universities. He served on several accreditation teams throughout his career and was widely respected for his thoughtful, thorough approach to institutional review. He had a keen eye for recognizing talent and offered many the guidance and mentorship that helped launch their careers in higher education. Even following his retirement, Bill remained devoted to the field; he participated in a national directory that placed interim administrators and continued to serve in that capacity, offering steady leadership wherever he was called.

The life of the party, Bill kept everyone entertained with his quick wit and sense of humor. His gift for making others laugh is something for which he will be remembered. Yet behind that humor was a man who rarely expressed emotion openly, though his children always knew how proud he was of them and how deeply he loved them. He never missed a band competition, sporting event, or award ceremony—showing his love not through words, but through his unwavering presence.

In his younger years, Bill wrestled, played football and rugby, and carried his love of sports throughout his life. A seven-letter college athlete at Denison University—earning four letters in football and three in wrestling, a rare accomplishment—he took great pride in his athletic career. He frequently volunteered at local high school and college athletic events, happiest when he was close to the action.

He was also deeply committed to community service, spending many years as a volunteer fireman and even helping establish a college volunteer fire department at one of the institutions he served. A lover of history, he visited any historic site or museum he could, watched documentaries, and read historical books. On weekends, he was often found in the garden, grilling steaks or any meat with Carolina Treet barbecue sauce, or in his rocker watching sports on TV.

Bill also had a love for animals. He had a soft spot for strays—welcoming cats, dogs, a pony, and even a pig affectionately called Spamela Lee into his life. His home was always a place where every creature found care.
The family would like to extend special thanks to Bill’s brother, John, and his wife, Jane, for the exceptional care and support they provided over the last several months.

At Bill’s request, no services will be held. You are encouraged to honor his memory by sharing a fond story or making a donation to your local animal shelter.
