One of my core values is life long learning. I was raised by two educational giants who instilled in me that education was less about books and tests and grades and more about kindling a fire. This week marks the culmination of educational effort as I am completing The Breathe Institute Myomastermind program. The first part of 2024 was spent gathering case studies and letters of recommendation, declarations of why I believed I was qualified to enter the program and preparation for acceptance.
The nine month journey through MyoMasterminds began in August 2024. Week after week of in-depth lectures, discussions, case presentations, deep soul-searching questions about how the human body works, how it fits together, and how we find health, study groups seeking out how to incorporate all the information we learned, quizzes, and homework to help integrate the knowledge into my mind.
This week marks the end of that journey, we got on camera last night and talked about what we do, why we do it, and how it fits into the fabric of society. It is easy to get caught up in the day to day, in the tasks that must be done, in doing a job, in making a living.
Thank you, mom and dad for kindling the fire of learning, for teaching me that education does not end when you graduate, that learning and growing is a lifelong process. Thank you to Sandy & Alan Richardson & Dennis Marvel & Mary Fremont who taught me that making a living and making a difference do not have to be mutually exclusive. Thank you to Mike Conway & Dick Robinson & Teri Shacklford who provided a fertile environment for 15 years where it was safe to learn in the job. Thank you to Sarah Hornsby who built my foundation of myofunctional knowledge brick by brick and showing me a path forward. Thank you to Melissa Mugno who reminded me that the fire within me is contagious and should be shared with others. Thank you to Sanda, Leyli, Chad, Dr. Zaghi and all the gang at TBI for creating a platform for research, experience, learning and pushing the field forward.
I am grateful to Eve and Jonathan and Natalie who put up with hastily thrown together dinners, and Dad sitting in class late into the evening on Tuesday nights. I am looking forward to graduation in Calabasas this weekend!
