The ADA National Network Center is a national platform of 10 Centers and an ADA Knowledge Translation Center, comprised of ADA professionals and experts charged with assisting businesses, state and local governments, and peo

ple with disabilities as they manage the process of changing our culture to be user-friendly to disability and the effect the variety of health conditions can have on society. The NWADAC is a part of the Department of Rehabilitation Medicine at the University of Washington, and collaborates with the Center for Technology and Disability Studies, a program within the Center for Human Development and Disability. The Center is not an enforcement or regulatory agency, but a helpful resource supporting the ADA's mission to "make it possible for everyone with a disability to live a life of freedom and equality." The 10 regional centers, along with the ADA Knowledge Translation Center, work together to develop projects and events of national significance. Each regional center also focuses on the specific needs of the residents who reside within its service area. The regional nature of the NWADAC is critical to ensuring the Center can adequately support the diverse population of ADA Stakeholders throughout the country. Ask an ADA Professional Questions Free Webinar: Early Childcare and the ADA
Wednesday, July, 10, 11:00 AM - 12:00 PM Pacific
Children with disabilities under the ADA have a right to equal opportunities in early childcare programs as children without disabilities. Early childcare can include privately run centers, home day care, government-run centers, before and after school care programs, and summer programs. Care workers and providers often play an important role in children’s lives. For this reason, it is important that they understand their role under the ADA regarding the children they serve as well as the parents, guardians, siblings and other members of the public with disabilities that are involved in their services. Please join us for this live Q&A event with ADA professionals from the ADA National Network who will be answering questions related to the ADA rights of children with disabilities and the responsibilities of early childcare providers.

Title II – Accessibility for State and Local Government Funded Facilities
Thursday, June, 6, 11:30 AM - 1:00 PM Pacific
The Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) has five “Titles”, that provide different protections for people with disabilities. Title II of the ADA specifically covers Public Services provided by any state or local government. As a tax funded entity, there are more accessibility requirements than expected of private entities or businesses. Access Board Accessibility Specialists will review what the different accessibility laws are, how they apply, and compare how the requirements for state or local government entities differ than those in the private sector. In addition to these concepts, the accessibility specialists will cover a broad overview of key components that are likely to apply to government funded spaces, such as accessible routes, toilet rooms, and counters.

Free Webinar: Title III of the ADA & Readily Achievable Barrier Removal
Tuesday, May 21st, 10:00 AM - 11:00 AM Pacific
Title III of the ADA requires places of public accommodation to remove barriers to accessibility that are deemed “readily achievable”. The term "places of public accommodation" includes businesses that are generally open to the public and that fall into one of 12 categories listed in the ADA, such as restaurants, movie theaters, schools, daycare facilities, recreation facilities, and doctors' offices. Having an awareness of barriers to accessibility, taking steps to determine how they can be overcome, developing a plan to address those improvements (including a time frame for improvements), and finally implementing those improvements if they are readily achievable, is critical for Title III entities.

Thursday, May, 16, 11:00 am - 12:30 pm Pacific
When an elevator is installed, no one asks why the elevator is needed or how to use it. In comparison, when an assistive listening system (ALS) is installed, almost everyone will say “Huh?”
In this session, you’ll learn that even when people wear hearing aids, they still need assistive listening systems to hear clearly in public and private entities. The session will cover which systems fall under the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), the ADA standards, the practicality of the different ALS, and best practices for managers so that users have a positive experience, whether they wear hearing devices or not. The session will also cover how Auracast may be used as an assistive listening system with International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC) standards to be released in 2027.

A Review of Various Notable ADA-Related Settlement Agreements & Conciliations by Federal Enforcement Agencies- Part II
Wednesday, May, 15, 11:00 AM - 12:30 PM Pacific
A deep dive into some notable settlement agreements and conciliations unveiled by federal agencies upholding the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) and related anti-discrimination laws. This session will explore possible reasons why civil rights offices target certain segments of our economy but not others, why a Federal agency ultimately takes court action against a particular business, government entity, a landlord, or even a solo legal or medical practice. While they may not be as important as actual court decisions, these Federal enforcement efforts represent the backbone of ADA compliance across the country.
