It's a common misconception that avoiding your triggers is the path to happiness and peace. The truth is, triggers are often put in our path to show us what is still in need of healing within. Facing and understanding those triggers when they arise is the tool needed for continued growth and healing. When we look at them as an attack, as opposed to a chance to reflect, that trigger will remain hidden within us. It will never go away. It takes dipping your finger directly in the wound of that trigger to heal it. Acknowledge it's existence and feel the location of the wounding and its depth. Feel it, and understand why it's there. Once these things truly occur, that trigger will begin to have less effect on you. Your reactions will begin to change. Your nervous system will begin to rewire. Healing will be able to occur.
Triggers do not always demand you run and flee. Some come to simply say, "be still, and try to understand this next". 🖤 🪶
