That moment when you snap…
and then immediately feel confused by your own reaction.
Why did that bother me so much?
Where did that even come from?
That’s not a lack of patience.
It’s not a personality flaw.
And it’s not you “regressing.”
When your nervous system is overloaded, it loses its margin for tolerance.
The filter gets thinner. Small things hit harder.
Your body reacts before your logic can catch up.
That’s why the guilt shows up so fast, because the reaction didn’t match who you know yourself to be.
This is what I see every day, especially during the holidays.
Not poor boundaries. Just nervous systems stuck in overdrive.
When you help the system calm down, the reactions soften. Presence comes back.
And you start responding instead of bracing.
