Betty L. Coleman, 77 of Scottdale passed away peacefully with her family by her side at UPMC Shadyside Hospital, Pittsburgh. Betty was born September 22, 1947 in Mt. Pleasant a daughter of the late James C. and Catherine Overly Brock. Betty Graduated with honors from the Greensburg Institute of Technology. She was employed by General Electric Corp as a field Engineer. She is survived by her daughter Robin Nicholson and her husband Terry of Mt Pleasant; Grandchildren, Brittany Halley, Lacey Andrews and her husband Steven of Weaver, Alabama and Haley Nicholson and sisters Zaneth Brock of Sandusky, OH and Janice Smith and her husband, Scott of Berlin Heights, OH; she is also survived by her ex-husband, Robert Coleman of Acme. In addition to her parents, Betty was preceded in death by her daughter Wendy Halley, a grandson, Joe Halley and a brother James R Brock. James Copeland Lozier, "Uncle Jim" to many, passed away on Saturday, July 26, 2025 at the age of 90. Born on August 22, 1934 to William Henry Lozier and Edythe Copeland Lozier, in recent years, Jim resided in South Greensburg but in his heart, he was a life-long resident of Mount Pleasant. He graduated from Ramsey High School, Class of 1952; Grove City College (BA History) and the University of Pittsburgh (M. Ed.). Beginning in 1956, Jim taught Social Studies at Franklin Regional High School in Murrysville. In 1967 he was a founder and then long-time Board Member of the Franklin Regional School System's Credit Union. After retiring he took many great vacations with family and friends. His passion for family genealogy, history, and deep love for Mount Pleasant led him to devote many fun years to the Mount Pleasant Historical Society. He was intimately involved in the relocation and er****on of two authentic log cabins on Washington Street creating a permanent home for
the for the Historical Society. "Jim was named the Citizen of the year by the Mount Pleasant Rotary Club of Mount Pleasant. Jim was a proud 32nd Degree Mason. He was a devoted long-term
caregiver and supporter for family members as they aged, including his Grandmother Sadie Ridenour Lozier.
These wonderful testaments aside, Jim Lozier's two greatest loves were his many Nieces, Nephews and Cousins, and his well-known "Cabin" in Laurelville. From 1955 until he became ill, Jim Lozier sustained and nurtured his Cabin as a refuge for family and friends for 70 years. As for family, Jim was simply the Greatest Uncle Ever! He will forever be remembered as the "Fun Uncle" loved by all.
Jim Lozier is survived by his brother, Lt. Col. William E. Lozier (US Army Ret.); nephews William (Rose) Lozier of Florence NJ; David (Beth) Lozier, Esq. of Chippewa; Nieces, Amy Lozier of Roeland Park KS; Marianne (Sam) Sowell of Harrison City; Linda Lozier of Greensburg; Great Nephews John (Katie) Adams of Carbondale CO; David Kephart of Kansas City KS; Great Nieces Katie (Ryan) Lozier of Philadelphia; Sarah (Derek) Lozier of Chippewa; and Rebecca (Tim) Lozier of University Heights OH. Jim's cousins, and cousins in-laws, are many, including Copelands, Spencers, Whetsels, Ridenours, Crawfords, and Posters. Jim saw each and every one as an intimate part of his life and legacy. The same goes for his close hunting buddies at the Ahlborn-Lessman-Degentesh Camp in Benezette.
The family wants to recognize and thank Jim's loving caregivers from Home Instead and the Rehabilitation Nursing Center in Greensburg. Eleanor J. Poorbaugh, 88, of Mt. Pleasant, passed away peacefully with her family by her side on Monday, July 21, 2025, at Easy Living Estates in Hunker. Eleanor was born on June 11, 1937, in New Kensington, the daughter of the late Oliver S. and Hazel L. Mitchell McConnell.

She was a longtime member of Paradise Church, where she participated in the Sunshine Circle and served as a Sunday School teacher for the Faithful Friends Sunday School Class.

Eleanor is survived by a daughter, Denise Sperry, and her husband Michael of Mifflintown, PA; sons Darryl Poorbaugh and his wife Jennifer, and Donald Poorbaugh and his wife Linda, both of Mt. Pleasant. She is also survived by her grandchildren: Jason Sperry and his wife Ariane, Ben Sperry and his wife Casey, Nick Sperry and his wife Kristen, Nathan Poorbaugh and his wife Jenna, Larissa Bukovac and her husband Johnny, Nicole Hough and her husband Jeremy, DJ Poorbaugh and his wife Kaitlin, Justine N**o and her husband Devin, Cody Poorbaugh and his wife Lexi, and Lauren Savage-Poorbaugh and her wife Kara.

She is also survived by the loves of her life-her great-grandchildren: Emmie, Franny, Hudson, and Cullen Sperry; Tyler and Mia Martin; Amelia and Camri Poorbaugh; Kaia and Knox Bukovac; Nayvie, Teagan, and Suttyn Hough; Brantley and Bristol Poorbaugh; Gabriel and Camden (on the way) N**o; and Tatum Poorbaugh.

Eleanor is also survived by her brother, Oliver R. “Bob” McConnell, and his wife Marilyn; her sister, Barbara A. Ackerman (and her late husband Ray).

In addition to her parents, Eleanor was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 49 years, Lee Roy Poorbaugh, in 2007.

Visitation for family and friends will be held on Wednesday, July 23, from 2 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Slater-Rega Funeral & Cremation Services, Inc., 730 W. Main Street, Mt. Pleasant. Additional visitation will be held on Thursday, July 24, from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. at Paradise Church, 105 Hoke Road, Mt. Pleasant, where services will follow at 11 a.m. All guests are asked to meet at the church.

Interment will follow at Green Ridge Memorial Park. A luncheon will be held at Paradise Church following the interment.

Brian Brezina, age 41, was a man of quiet generosity and unwavering love. Though life was not always kind to him, Brian gave what he could, often offering his time, laughter, and heart to those around him. Despite his own struggles with self-love, he never failed to make others feel valued. He didn’t see how special he was, but to those who knew him, his kindness was immeasurable. Brian’s two sisters were not just family, but his closest friends, and he cherished them above all else. Their bond was the foundation of his world. His love for them, and for his family, was clear in everything he did. He found joy in the simple things: a Sunday afternoon spent playing Dungeons & Dragons with friends, singing karaoke with cousins, or sharing a movie or TV show to create memories with loved ones.

An avid reader and aspiring writer, Brian’s passion for stories never wavered, even though he never finished a book he started. But it was the stories he shared, the inside jokes, and the moments of laughter that will stay with those who loved him the most. His ability to make others laugh, even in difficult times, was one of his greatest gifts.

Brian will be remembered for his warmth, his wit, and the deep care he had for those around him. In his final act of love, he gave the gift of life as an organ donor. Though his time with us was too short, the impact he made will live on in the hearts of all who knew him. He will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and all who had the privilege of sharing their lives with him.

Brian is preceded in death by his parents, Bob and Carol Brezina: Grandparents Tom and Elaine Ohler, Henry and Dolly Trice,Dick and Midge Brezina, Bruce and Rose Miller.

Lynn Ann Kuhn, born 8/22/1959 of Acme passed away peacefully in her sleep on Saturday, February 22nd.
Lynn was preceded in death by her parents, Edward M. Kuhn, Sr. and Evelyn D. (King) Kuhn of Mount Pleasant.
She is survived by her siblings, Edward M. Kuhn, Jr. (Jeff) of Greensburg, Lori Lee Kuhn of Mount Pleasant, David W. Kuhn (Barbara) of McMurray and nieces Synclaire Evelyn Kuhn and Karsyn Marie Kuhn of McMurray, and her best friend Laura Jennings of Jeannette.
Lynn spent 20+ years as an award-winning writer and editor for the Tribune Review, the Uniontown Herald Standard and the Daily Courier newspapers. She was a gifted writer and crafty layout editor, whose work always received the highest accolades for her work.
Additionally, Lynn spent many years working as an adjunct journalism, writing, and English professor at the University of Pittsburgh at Greensburg and Johnstown campuses, Seton Hill University, and Westmoreland County Community College, where she shared her love of writing and journalism with thousands of students.
Lynn graduated with the highest honors from Mount Pleasant area high school in 1977 where she was an All-State point guard and led the lady Vikings basketball team to the WPIAL playoffs multiple times. She was a gifted athlete and later went on to compete collegiately at Washington and Jefferson College for the Lady Presidents.
At W&J, Lynn graduated with a degree in English and writing and also held a masters degree from Seton Hill University in creative writing.
Lynn had a dry sense of humor and a keen intellect. She loved reading, trivia, history, horticulture, traveling and spending time in the outdoors, hiking kayaking, and cross country skiing. She also had a great love and affection for her pets, most recently, her dog Tina and her cat Libby.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that any donations be sent to support the Mountain Watershed Association project at mtwatershed.com, a cause near and dear to Lynn‘s heart as she fervently believed in protecting her beloved Laurel Highlands in which she lived. Carl W. "Joe" Barnhart, 84 of Mt. Pleasant Twp (Bridgeport) passed away peacefully with his family at his side on Sunday, February 16, 2025. Carl was born July 2, 1940 in Hammondville the son of the late Carl R. and Evalyn Hebenthal Barnhart. Carl attended Ramsay High School and Connellsville Area High School. He was a member of the Bridgeport United Methodist and was formally employed as a cabinet maker by Smith & Grabiak Cabinet Co, Volkswagen of America and the Mt. Pleasant School District. He is survived by his wife Nancy Ramsey Barnhart; His children, Carl Alan Barnhart and wife Marcia of Uniontown, Lori Jo Unger and her husband Ronald of Bridgeport and Lisa Marie Razza and her husband Dennis of New Derry; grandchildren, Brooke Gall and her husband Zach and Blaire Barnhart and fiancee Logan Hauserman, Colton and Carter Unger and Reed and Ramsey Razza and a great grandchild, Benjamin Gall; step grandchildren, David Ross and his wife Kaitlin and Kelly Ross and a sister, Janet Stone. Dorinda M. Ober, 66 of Mt Pleasant passed away peacefully at UPMC East Hospital with her family by her side after a courageous three year battle with cancer. Dorinda was born May 20, 1958 in New Jersey the daughter of the late Kenneth and Adeline Rega Newell. She was a member of Visitation Roman Catholic Church, Mt Pleasant and a 1976 Graduate of Mt. Pleasant Area High School. Dorinda was formerly employed by Key Bank Mt Pleasant. She was a talented seamstress, baker. She enjoyed being with her family traveling to Myrtle Beach for their summer vacations. Most of all, she was a loving wife, mother and grandmother "Nene", they were the apple of her eye. Dorinda is survived by her husband, Steve; a daughter, Christy and husband Jeff Betlan, her granddaughter, Maddy, a brother, Kenneth Newell and wife Jennie; sisters and brothers in law, Barbara Kundrick and husband Don, Lynne Brickerton and husband Brad, Bill Barber and Carol Fuoss; nieces and nephews, Bill, Kristen, Ben and Michelle Barber, Donetta and husband Drew Curry, Sue and Sean O'Shea, Allison and Jimmy Bonnell, Brennan and Amy Newell, Duane, Andrew and Connis Fuoss; also numerous great nieces and nephews, In addition to her parents, Dorinda was preceded in death by her father and mother in law, Stephen and Clara Ober and a sister in law Bonnie Barber. Harry S. Little, 78 of Ruffsdale passed away Thursday January 2, 2025 at Independence Health Westmoreland Hospital, Greensburg. Harry was born in Beaver Falls on January 6, 1946 the son of the late Harry S. Little Sr. and Constance Mannino. Harry lived in El Paso,Texas and employed as a Kirby sweeper salesman until moving back to Everson, PA and eventually Ruffsdale. He was a professional Chef, and formerly employed as the manager of the cafeteria of Westinghouse Corp, and the William Penn Nursing Home. He catered many political events in he area and prepared and delivered nutritional food for the local people in the community. Harry was a Army veteran during the Vietnam War. He was a member of VFW Post 3368 and American Legion Post 446, Mt.Pleasant, the Scottdale Sons & Daughters of Italy, the A&B Club , Youngwood and numerous other organizations. Surviving are his children, Eric K. Little of Sisters, Oregon and YuVawn Brown and husband Robert of Mt. Pleasant; his beloved grandchildren, Kaylee Sue Brown, Jared Wayne Brown, Austin Michael Brown Robert Edward Brown, Jr and great-grandson Everest Wayne Brown.; sisters, Mary Lomber, Mary Plagman, Helen Marinkovich and husband Denny, Tinamarie Meritt and Melanie Menta and husband Franco. Donald P. Shrum,Jr. 76 of Acme,PA passed away Monday December 16, 2024, at Independence Health Westmoreland Hospital, Greensburg. Donald was born May 30, 1948 the son of Donald P. Shrum, Sr. and Grace Isabelle Dudley. Don was very loved by many, and loved hunting, fishing and was one of the best self taught mechanics around. He loved to take things apart fix them and put them back together. He leaves behind a daughter, Michelle Howard (Shrum) and her husband, Kevin Howard of Jeannette, PA. Also surviving are his, step-daughters, Kathi Helms, Linda Hayes and Robin Drew Royer; grandchildren, Lanae Nicole and Caeli Marie Basinger, Jaamel and Kanieshia Steward; siblings, Grace Saldanha and her husband, Mark, Barry Shrum and wife Bonnie, Karen Jordan and Sandy Hitchcock and husband Ken. Sara "Sally" L. Shumar, 95 of Mt pleasant passed away peacefully with her family by her side on Wednesday, October 2, 2024 at Independence Health Latrobe Hospital. Sara was born July 9,1929 in Mt. Pleasant, the daughter of the late Eston and Mae Long King. Sara was preceded in death by her husband, Russell Shumar, Jr.; sisters, Romaine Shipley (t***s), Genevieve Snyder, Roberta Clark and Lida Dunn. Surviving are numerous nieces and nephews. Sara was a graduate of Hurst High School and continued her education in nursing, graduating in the last class of Henry Clay Frick Memorial Hospital School of nursing in 1950. She began her lifelong career as a Registered Nurse, employed by Connellsville State Hospital and Mt. Pleasant Hospital, where she worked in the OR and later on general floors for over 40 years. She was a thoughtful and loving person, who touched the lives around her. Caregiving came naturally to her, as she devoted herself to the care of others. The family especially would like to thank nephew and wife, Brian and Tammy Dunn for their care and kindness and also a heartfelt thanks to Debbie Smartnick for her years of caregiving, friendship and love of Sara. Also, a special thanks to Pastor Brian Zeisloft, the visitation team from the Church of God, Bridges Hospice and the staff of Latrobe hospital for their kind care. James G. Hauser 63 of Tarrs, PA passed away peacefully at his home with his loving family by his side. Jim was born January 8, 1961 in Mt. Pleasant the son of Lloyd and Dolores Betker Hauser. Jim was a 1979 Graduate of Southmoreland High School and was formerly employed as a drywall installer for North Pittsburgh Drywall. He was an Honorably discharged Army Veteran and a member of the American Legion Post 446, Mt. Pleasant. Surviving are his Wife, Nicole Quashnock Hauser, a daughter, Casie Gray (Jim) and a son, Jesse Hauser; a granddaughter Luna Gray and sisters, Darlene Hauser Owen and Roxanne Sanners (Rick) and nieces and nephews. Amy J. Zvara 52 of Southwest passed away July 7, 2024 at her home peacefully with her loving husband and children by her side. Amy was born December 5, 1971 in Mt. Pleasant the daughter of the late Beverly J. Sheppard. Amy was a member of the Mt. Joy Covenant Brethren Church. She was a 1990 graduate of Connellsville High School and attended Westmoreland County Community College earning a degree in business administration. She was formerly employed by Anchor Hocking and Peter’s Eyecare. She loved all six of her cats and her dog, Brandi. Surviving are her husband, Andrew “Benny” Zvara; a son Andrew Zvara and a daughter, Abby Zvara; a sister-in-law, Heather Crock; aunts, Betty Robosky, Joann Kint and Mary Sheppard, also surviving are numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.
