Polishing old shotgun skills with DAVAD Civilian Defense. Turns out that 40 years of chasing pheasant around Wisconsin translates into solid tactical shotgun basics; movement on uneven ground, the surprise of a flushing bird, a fast-moving target, and being in close proximity to other hunters make for great lifelong skill & safety training.

This is why we all need to be sparring on a regular basis; practice getting to and failing to get to the First Event, take damage, fight differently enabled and sized opponents, fight completely gassed-out. All will make us more prepared.

I use to make a remark years ago that "all judo throws work quickly after you break the guy's nose." And many folks looked at me like I was crazy or something. But I wasn't. I meant it.
