RESEARCH SHARE
Cannabinoid receptor expression in non-small cell lung cancer. Effectiveness of tetrahydrocannabinol and cannabidiol inhibiting cell proliferation and epithelial-mesenchymal transition in vitro.
Journal-PLoS One. 2020

https://journals.plos.org/plosone/article?id=10.1371/journal.pone.0228909

CONCLUSIONS
The expression levels of CB1 and CB2 have a potential use as markers of survival in patients with NSCLC. THC and CBD inhibited the proliferation and expression of EGFR in the lung cancer cells studied. Finally, the THC/CBD combination restored the epithelial phenotype in vitro. See Less

THCV
Looking for a cultivar that brings on a burst of positive energy and helps keep the munchies at bay? Soon you will hear more about strains with the unique cannabinoid tetrahydrocannabivarin, or THCV. This rare cannabinoid, which has been found in landrace African sativas, has shown to be useful for treating various conditions. Perhaps most impressive is this cannabinoid’s unique ability to suppress the appetite making it a promising medicine for conditions such as diabetes. THCV’s neuroprotective qualities are also being studied to assist with conditions such as Parkinson’s disease and PTSD.
When it comes to cannabinoids, researchers are still trying to unpack precisely why cannabis is so beneficial. A group of substances found in the resinous trichome heads of cannabis flowers, more than 100 cannabinoids have been discovered, but it’s agreed that there are many more that have yet to be uncovered. In a scientific paper calling cannabinoids a “neglected pharmacological treasure trove” researcher, Raphael Mechoulam explains that the benefits of cannabinoids other than THC never got their due before because everyone was only really interested in the promise of the psychoactive “high” of THC. The two most common cannabinoids are THC and CBD, but there are several other “neglected plant cannabinoids,”.
THCV has  intrigued prominent California cannabis breeder Art at Purple Caper Seeds . His strain is called Luxor THCV. It’s genetics come from landrace strains from northern India, more specifically the Kumaun Himalayas, and two from South Africa. Luxor THCV is a Devi crossed with a combo of Kwazulu and Durban Poison and Art says it was bred for “the kings and queens of Wakanda and named after the famous African city known for the valley of kings and queens.” This cultivar contains 15% THC and 1% THCV.“This is a great functional strain, for a nice day or vacation in Luxor,” Art says. “THCV decreases appetite, increases satiety, and up-regulates energy metabolism. THCV also counters the hunger effect that THC can cause. This flower will not give you the munchies!”
