Please welcome our new and talented therapist, Virginia, who comes with a vast array of experience and clinical expertise!
Virginia Mittnacht is a licensed clinical social worker living in Philadelphia. She has experience working with children, adolescents and young adults who are impacted by mental, emotional and/or behavioral health challenges. Virginia believes that building a strong and honest relationship with her clients is the root from which genuine, positive and sustained growth stems. She thoughtfully works to create a trusting and affirming space that encourages self-exploration and discovery and empowers clients to connect to and build on their intrinsic strengths and capacity for change.
Virginia specializes in the treatment of anxiety, depression, OCD and related disorders, attachment disruptions, adjustment disorders, life transitions and stressors, self-image and self-esteem issues, grief and loss and women’s issues. She has an integrative approach to treatment and draws upon elements of evidence-informed and expressive, creative therapies tailored to each client’s experience, needs and treatment goals. She understands that comprehensive and effective therapeutic treatment brings attention to the whole person and considers the interdependent relationship between the mind and body and its impact on well-being.
Virginia received her master’s degree in social work from the University of Michigan School of School Work. She has experience working with kids and teens in a variety of mental health settings, including through non-profit social-emotional wellness programs based in Philadelphia, New York and New Jersey and through Michigan Medicine’s Department of Child and Adolescent Outpatient Psychiatry. Virginia also provides clinical supervision to graduate-level social work students.
She connects deeply to her social work practice and believes that all people deserve access to comprehensive and inclusive therapeutic care.
