We are pleased to announce our January Employee of the Month, Ms. Taylor Cuiksa! Taylor has been employed with us for 3 years and 9 months. She originally started as a school volunteer and has been here ever since, as a proud part of our dietary department!

Taylor truly loves our residents and enjoys serving them with a smile every day. She is always on time, dependable, and genuinely enjoys spending time with residents even after her shift ends.

Taylor, thank you for your dedication, compassion, and all that you do. We truly appreciate you!

The friendly groundhog, Punxsutawney Phil has predicted we will see 6 more weeks of winter, drats!

On the sunny side, some fun facts about groundhogs, are that they are also called woodchucks, whistle-pigs, and land beavers! They have strong incisors that grow continuously, requiring them to gnaw on things like tree bark to keep them short. Despite being a little on the bigger side, groundhogs are surprisingly good at climbing trees and swimming! Looks like it's back to the burrow for Punxsutawney and his groundhog friends for another long nap through the end of winter!

Villa Maria staff will be recording their daily steps, residents will be recording daily participation in activities and we encourage you to get moving with us and record your daily steps at home! In celebration of Activity Professionals Week, we are excited to host a Color-Theme Spirit Week! Each day, staff are encouraged to wear the color of the day as we celebrate the fun, creativity, and bright energy our Activity Departments at Villa Maria and Maria Court bring to our residents.

• Monday (1/26): Green
• Tuesday (1/27): Purple
• Wednesday (1/28): Pink
• Thursday (1/29): orange/ 70’s hippie day
• Friday (1/30): Blue

Residents at Maria Court have been very busy with all of the Christmas festivities. Feliz Navidad BINGO with the MULVANE SENIOR CENTER and friends, and our Dessert Gala were some our residents' favorites! Thank you to everyone who make our spirit bright and bring joy to our residents!
