Debbie Labeth Josselet Pankhurst, 70, of Munday, Texas, beloved child of God, Mom, Meme, sister, aunt, teacher and friend, entered the gates of heaven Thursday, September 18, 2025.
Family visitation will be held on Sunday, September 21, 2025, 5:00-6:00 PM, at the First
Methodist Church of Munday fellowship hall. The celebration of Debbie’s life will be on Monday,
September 22, 2025, at 2:00 PM at the First Methodist Church of Munday.
Debbie was born on March 5, 1955 in Haskell, Texas, to Wayne and Pansy Hammer
Josselet. Debbie was the oldest of four children, and she loved every minute of being the big
sister to Kyle Josselet, Tena Josselet Myers and Kent Josselet. These four had a relationship
forged in fire and united by God’s unwavering love. Her bond with her siblings was special, but
Debbie and Tena had a relationship that only sisters could share. They were not only sisters, but best friends who loved being together. You could find them watching their kids in their activities, traveling together when they could, and spending lots of time talking and laughing together.
Debbie attended school in Munday, Texas, before earning her Bachelor of Education
degree from Midwestern State University. Debbie was passionate about her love for Jesus, and
she spent her entire life sharing that love.
Debbie loved to teach, and she lived out that calling on her life in many ways. She taught
elementary school for 33 years. Most of those years were spent teaching either fourth grade or
Kindergarten to the students of Munday Elementary School. Not only did she teach her
students, she also taught others to fall in love with teaching. Along with her years in the
classroom, Debbie also taught Adult Literacy for many years, and she helped several individuals
earn their United States citizenship through that program. Debbie, a member of the First
Methodist Church of Munday, taught in the church in a variety of ways. Through the years, she taught Sunday School, led the youth group, taught vacation Bible school, and led many
women’s Bible studies. Debbie was a certified Lay Speaker in the church, and she taught through her preaching of God’s word to her own church and churches throughout the area. Debbie was also known for her gift of words during times of bereavement. She wrote and delivered the most heartfelt eulogies and touched many lives through this ministry.
Debbie was so passionate about children that she joined the Knox County Child Welfare
Board. After her retirement from education, she poured her heart into serving the Lord and
children in this way. Debbie worked for months to open a Rainbow Room. She acquired
donations from her church and several civic groups. She cleaned, painted, decorated and
stocked the room, which provided clothing and other necessities to children in times of need.
The Rainbow Room served the children of both Haskell and Knox Counties.
As much as Debbie poured her heart into these things, her family was her greatest gift
on this earth. She loved her family endlessly, and she taught her family to love Jesus. Her
children, Jeremy and Lanesa, were the lights of her life, at least until the grandchildren and
great-grandchildren came along. She loved to be a part of all of their lives. She could be found
popping in at the shop or going to the lake to see Jeremy, and her shopping and girls’ trips with
Lanesa were a treasure. Debbie enjoyed playing games, like Wahoo, with the grands and
hosting sleepovers at Meme’s. She could be seen taking Barbie Jeep rides, making popcorn
and lemonade for movie night, or making fluffy pancakes or cinnamon toast and coffee for
breakfast. Whatever her children or grandchildren were doing, she loved to be there to watch.
She spent countless hours at school programs, sporting events, dance recitals, band contests,
one act plays, stock shows or anything else they were involved in. She absolutely loved being
an integral part of her family’s lives and teaching them the love of Jesus.
Debbie was preceded in death by her parents, Wayne Josselet, Pansy Josselet Koenig
and Leo Koenig.
Debbie is survived by her children; son, Jeremy Wilson and wife Vicki (aka Vic), of
Possum Kingdom, Texas; daughter, Lanesa Hall and husband Jason, of Stamford, Texas; 5
grandchildren, Rileigh Lowe, Taylor Offutt (John), Chase Wilson (Abi), Chloe Hall, and Karsten
Hall; 6 great-grandchildren, Avie Lunn, Brady Lowe, Carson Offutt, Blake Wilson, Emryn Offutt,
and Georgia Wilson; 3 siblings, Kyle Josselet (Melissa), Tena Myers (Danny), and Kent Josselet
(Cindy); and a host of nieces, nephews, friends and students who will forever be impacted by
her influence.
Debbie, child of God, Mom, Meme, sister, aunt, teacher and friend, is now sitting at the
feet of Jesus. She will be deeply missed on this earth, but her memories will forever be with
those she loved and the lives she touched.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the First Methodist Church or Hospice of Wichita Falls in her memory.
