Shirley Amerson, 87, of Munday, TX. passed away on January 28th, 2026. She was born on October 17th, 1938 in Knox County to Hugh and Loufana
Eubank. She and James "Amo" Amerson were married 64 years before his passing in 2020.
Shirley was a very active member of the First Methodist Church in Munday, where she was treasurer for 10 plus years, plus many other committees. She was part of the kitchen committee and spent many hours participating in funerals and church events, and when Carla called she was there for her. She was an active member of the Johnson Memorial Cemetery committee for several years and was very passionate about taking care of the cemetery. Shirley was known for how immaculate she kept her house and yard as well as her hair and make-up in place before leaving the house. She spent many Saturdays cleaning as she took pride in her home. On many Sundays she would set up her ironing board in the den while Amo and Tammy were watching football. She watched many football games with Amo, even after his passing in 2022, she kept the tradition however she became a huge Kansas City Chiefs fan, Dallas Cowboys took second place. Shirley, who had a fall in September 2022, moved to Munday Nursing Center. Unable to perform her daily tasks at home, she felt safe and comfortable at the center. During her three years at MNC, she cherished the staff and the numerous visitors who made it feel like home. She loved the pleasant scent of her room, which she maintained with a variety of Scentsy and Bath & Body products. Her room's seasonal decor, admired by everyone, was proudly displayed on the MNC website. Only after learning that Makenzie and Jonathan Key were returning to Munday, did she decide to sell her home, knowing they would take care of it as she did. She was deeply proud of her grandchildren, Nicholas and Hannah. Hannah fondly remembered spending time with "Mimi" at the Abilene Zoo and the swimming pool. Nicholas would visit when "grandad" was available to take them on tractor rides. She and Amo kept the road busy when Tammy and family resided in Fredericksburg, she was able to cherish family time, and allowed her to indulge in her shopping desires.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Amo and three sisters. Left to cherish her memory is her daughter Tammy Amerson-Wilson, her grandson Nicholas Wilson, her granddaughter Hannah Wilson, and several nieces and nephews.

Our Lord Jesus Christ came for Jonell Patterson on Wednesday, December 23rd relieving her of intense pain and reuniting her with her beloved husband Lee Patterson, her family members, and friends that are in God’s promised land for an eternity.
Jonell was born in Goree, Texas on November 6th, 1926 to the late Archie Porter and Mamie Grace Fitzgerald. The highlight of her life was her marriage to Lee Patterson on February 1st, 1946 after his return from World War II.
Jonell proudly leaves two sons Terry Patterson of Lubbock, Texas and Randy Patterson of Belton, Texas. Her legacy will be carried through in her four grandchildren who were the joy of her life: Mandy and Dane Womble of Lubbock, Adam and Angie Patterson of Spicewood, Texas, Whitney Carlstone of Frisco, Texas, and Kellye Patterson of Round Rock, Texas. Her pride and joy in life were her great-grandchildren Kaitlin and Emma Womble, Bentley, Berkley, Banin, and Baelyn Patterson, and Strohm and Shepherd Carlstone. Her memory is cherished by nieces Cindy Hunt McWhorter, Sharon Hunt Fox, Sunnye Dinger, Suzanne Bobo, Lisa Fitzgerald, Nancy Patterson Wilde, Patte Patterson Wood and nephews Joe Hunt, Tony Fitzgerald, and Mike Weisel. A very special thanks to Cindy McWhorter and Nancy Patterson Wilde for your on the spot help.
Jonell was preceded in death by her Father and Mother A.P and Mamie Fitzgerald, one sister Lorene Hunt, three brothers David Norris, Denzil, and Porter Fitzgerald along with her niece Judi Hunt Walsworth, and most recently her beloved daughter-in- law her beloved Judy Garner Patterson.
Jonell was a member of the First Methodist Church of Munday and a graduate of the Goree High School class of 1944. Jonell was a real Goree Wildcat, she never missed a Wildcat event. She was born in the Roaring 20’s, her teen years included the Great Depression and World War II, and her adult years included the greatest drought of Texas and a man walking on the moon. She experienced some tough and some great times in her life. Jonell was a devoted partner to her husband Lee as they sought ( like many others ) to make a life on a dry land farm north of Goree while fighting the drought, the huge sandstorms, and rattlesnakes. Those were the days of no government help, just families helping families and individuals helping individuals survive. Jonell was a helper and a volunteer to many people and causes her entire life from the Goree School, the churches, the town of Goree, the cemetery, the needy, and the sick.
Up until her passing, her precise memory recall of the Goree-Munday area all the way back to to the 30’s was spot on to the smallest tidbits.
We already miss her greatly but already we are looking forward to that heavenly reunion.
We are all so very happy that she is now pain free and living in the eternal land because of your faith in our Lord Jesus Christ.

We would like to thank the people of the Munday Nursing Home and all of the good folks of Knox County that spend your time with their residents. Y’all all are a blessing, people helping people. You all are appreciated and loved for taking care of those in need

A graveside memorial service is pending.

One of Lee and Jonell’s special projects was the Goree Cemetery, so if you wish to make a donation, it goes to Vickie Huffman, Goree Cemetery Association Box 33 Goree, Texas 76363
