🇺🇸 Memorial Day 2026 🇺🇸
Today we were honored to join our community at Homestead Cemetery following Munhall’s annual Memorial Day Parade to remember and pay tribute to the brave men and women who made the ultimate sacrifice in service to our nation.
The parade was well attended, the weather held out beautifully, and the ceremony was a meaningful reminder of the freedoms we enjoy because of those who answered the call to serve. We were especially proud of our own funeral director, David Mahlstedt, who delivered an outstanding keynote address. Drawing from both his military service and his experience honoring veterans and their families, David shared a heartfelt message about duty, sacrifice, remembrance, and gratitude that resonated with everyone in attendance.
David served as a Specialist (E-4) in the United States Army and was selected to serve with the prestigious Old Guard in Washington, D.C., where he participated in military funeral honors at Arlington National Cemetery and guarded the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier. His unique perspective and dedication to honoring veterans made today’s remarks especially meaningful.
At George Irvin Green Funeral Home, we are grateful for the opportunity to serve families every day and to help preserve the memories of those who have served our country. Memorial Day is more than the unofficial start of summer—it is a day to pause, reflect, and remember those who gave everything for our freedom.
Thank you to the organizers, veterans, scouts, first responders, community leaders, and all who participated in today’s parade and memorial service.
May we never forget the sacrifices of our fallen heroes.
🇺🇸 Remember. Honor. Never Forget. 🇺🇸
