My Story
Health coaching is a great compliment to personal training. My role is to help build sustained behavioral change in clients who wish to adopt and adhere to healthy lifestyle habits. Maybe you want to integrate more vegetables into your diet, quit smoking, tackle your first marathon or hit a deadlift PR. I can help you reach those goals! I also work with clients on navigating through lapses and relapses in these healthy lifestyle habits to help them regain control and continue on their journey to health and wellness. As someone who has experienced both lapses and prolonged relapses, I totally understand! The focus of the programming is specific to the client's needs. Some client's need more emphasis on creating engaging opportunities for physical activity while others need more specific information about proper eating habits. Others need assistance in identifying the barriers that are preventing them from sustained success with weight loss or reaching other fitness goals. Whatever your needs, my role is serve as a knowledgeable support system and be your cheerleader in and outside of the gym. In 2015, I became NCCA certified health coach through the American Council on Exercise (ACE). In 2017, I acquired certification as a Behavior Change Specialist through ACE, and in 2020, I became certified as a personal trainer through ACE and the National Personal Training Institute. My certifications build on my Bachelors degree in psychology, which I earned in 2000 and my Masters and Ph.D. in educational psychology, which I earned in 2002 and 2006. I have been a professor of psychology since 2006.
I love to run and lift and have participated in many races of various distances. Recently, I competed in my first Strongman competition! In short, I love being active and helping people reach their fitness goals! To learn more about my program to build muscular endurance check out: https://devotedstrength.com/endurance.
