It’s safe to say most of us are living in a state of chronic stress. What’s so bad about that?
A lot of things! When we are chronically stressed, our body is stuck in a sympathetic state or “fight or flight”. That means that we aren’t returning to the “rest, digest & heal” state if our parasympathetic nervous system. That can mean poor sleep quality & digestion, anxiety, irritability & mood swings, not to mention the suppression of your immune system. Long term it can lead to chronic illness, adrenal fatigue along with diabetes or cardiovascular disease.
This may seem overwhelming considering we can’t control all stressors in our lives. However, by making needed lifestyle changes to reduce what stress we can, we’ll build resilience in our nervous system & prevent disease.
