Debra Kay Ferguson was born February 11, 1952, in Sumner, Iowa to Joyce and Donald “Yogi” VanBrocklin. She attended the Alpha Elementary School in Alpha, Iowa, until the family relocated to Arizona. She graduated from Safford High School in Safford, Arizona in 1970.

Her marriage to La Vern Ferguson was over 50 beautiful years just recently celebrated in May. Meeting at a “Welcome Home from Vietnam” party in 1970, the couple would later marry on May 24th, 1975, in Fredericksburg, Iowa. They resided in rural Sumner, Iowa, during the early years of their marriage until moving to Moline, Illinois in the late 1970s. After their move to Moline, they were elated in 1978 with the birth of their beautiful daughter, Alicia. Debby and La Vern recently made their permanent move to Tennessee in December 2025 to be closer to Alicia and her family.

Throughout her whole life, Debby gave generously--ever present in her chosen career of Healthcare. First working at Hillcrest Nursing Home in Sumner, Iowa. Later, a significant portion of her career transpired as a Nurse at Trinity Medical Center, in different capacities and departments from ICU to adolescent mental health. Many times, over the years, local family and friends were blessed to have her taking care of their loved ones. Her passion to help others was evident by the years she gave to her career.

Debby had a beautiful eye and talent for crafting. She was never without a bag to do needlepointing, quilting, or knitting. Her talents and gifts were present throughout every chapter of her life, from Christmas Ornaments for her daughter’s grade school classmates to helping friends with quilts. Other crafting projects included a giant human-size book costume for her daughter's play, homemade grocery bags made of cloth (created long before stores started selling them), and endless hemming projects and stitching of clothes for costumes and weddings. Her talent for solving crafting emergencies had no end and fueled that continued passion to help others.

Later in life she was blessed to have several groups of friends that she often met up with for lunches, brunches, and dinners to talk and play games. More than anything she loved her grandsons, Dimitri and Tidus Pickett. Being their “Gama” was something she treasured; whenever possible, she enjoyed their soccer games, Taekwondo lessons, Veteran Ceremonies, choir and so much more. Never one to say “no” to a game of Sweep, or other card games, her competitive and strategic side was coupled with her ever-present vivacious big smile and cunning laugh. Debby’s eyes always sparkled with that deep enduring love when she was spending time with family and friends. Her last goal was to complete her move to Tennessee to see her grandsons and celebrate deep in her heart, the days she could spend time with them.

Preceded in death by her Son, Lucas Adam Ferguson; Mother, Joyce O’Connell, Father, Donald "Yogi" Van Brocklin; Father-In-Law Harold Ferguson, Mother-In-Law Martha Ferguson; Grandfather Judd Van Brocklin, Grandmother Grace Van Brocklin; Aunts Virgina Toenges and Carol Hoepfner, Uncle Russell Van Brocklin; Brothers-In-law Harold “Bud” Ferguson, and Garold “Gary” Ferguson; Sister-In-Law Velda Lynch. She is survived by her husband, La Vern, daughter Alicia (Harrison) Pickett; Sister Terry (Robert) Von Roden; Grandsons Dimitri and Tidus Pickett; Sisters-In-Law Velma “Jean” Jones and Linda Ferguson; as well as many nieces and nephews.

Service will be held on December 27, 2025, at 12:00 p.m. at Roselawn Funeral Home in Murfreesboro, Tennessee. Visitation will take place from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. - 1 hour prior to services.
A Celebration of Life will be held in Illinois at a later date.

Mark Alan Cutlip, 65, of Murfreesboro, Tennessee, passed away on Monday, December 1, 2025, surrounded by family and friends.

Mark was a devoted husband to his wife of more than 35 years, Debbie Coop Cutlip, and a loving father to Candace Nicole Manning and her husband, Carter. His greatest pride and joy were found in the life he built with them. Mark loved being at home with his family, spending time with friends, sharing stories, laughter, and quiet moments that meant everything.

He was known for his big heart, steady presence, and the way he instantly made people feel comfortable. Mark had a genuine kindness that drew people in, and he formed friendships that lasted a lifetime. He never met a stranger, and his warmth and sincerity were at the core of who he was.

Mark loved the outdoors and spent much of his time fishing from his kayak, hunting, or simply enjoying the peace of nature. Being outside brought him a sense of clarity and calm. During the years he and Debbie lived on their farm, they cherished the slower pace of life and the simple joy of being on their land together.

Mark’s faith was an important part of his life and guided the way he cared for others. He and Debbie attended World Outreach Church, where they made meaningful connections through their small group and community.

Mark is survived by his mother, Carolyn Cutlip Fitts, and her husband, Ray; and by his brother, Bryan Cutlip, and his wife, Becky. He was preceded in death by his father and stepmother, Jerry and Pat Cutlip; siblings, Joni Jones and Nick Cutlip; and his mother- and father-in-law, Jean and Ben Coop.

A celebration of Mark’s life will take place on Saturday, December 6, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. at Roselawn Funeral Home, with visitation beginning at 9:30 a.m. Friends and family are invited to gather, remember, and honor a man whose life was marked by love, faith, and a deep connection to the outdoors he cherished.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Cancer Society, your local church, or a charity of your choice, in honor of Mark’s generous heart.

06/30/2025

Ada Jane Harvin was born February 24th, 2024, in Murfreesboro, TN. Ada passed peacefully in her sleep the night of June 26th, 2025, after a day spent cuddling and watching movies. During her 16 months & 2 days, Ada lived a life full of reading, dancing, pianoing, sharing, cuddling, hugging, patting, peek-a-booing, high-fiving, grocery shopping, clapping, waving at fish & giraffes, riding in her Cozy Coupe, being outside, making dolphin noises, and practicing Ada’s version of Pacman.
When Ada walked, she ran. When Ada danced, her whole body grooved. When Ada ate mac and cheese, she consumed. When Ada washed her hands, it was for 20 minutes. Ada’s maturity impressed her daycare teachers, as did her stink eye: she was judgmental until you passed her inspection, then she was sweet and silly. Ada enjoyed visiting the Hall of Presidents at Disney World and the Tiki Room at Disneyland during the time she was here with us.
We hope you learn from Ada’s sudden departure that you never know just how much time you have, so spend your time joyfully on one another. Ada will be greatly missed by so many, particularly by her parents, Sarah & Taylor, her “doggies”, Lilo & Jojo, her “pretty kitty cats”, Kylo & Meeko, and her baby sister, due in November.
Dress joyfully in your Sunday best and join us at Roselawn Funeral Home & Memorial Gardens (5350 NW Broad St, Murfreesboro, TN 37129) on Saturday, July 5th at 10 am Central Time (livestream available concurrently on Roselawn’s page). Reception to immediately follow celebrating Ada’s life. In lieu of flowers, let’s continue Ada’s mark on the world: Ada loved books, doggies and giraffes. Consider making donations in Ada’s name to your local library, your local animal shelter, or to one of Ada’s favorite places, the Nashville Zoo at https://www.nashvillezoo.org/?form=FUNMEWCJFJW or https://www.amazon.com/registries/gl/guest-view/31USN81S90T5W for Animal Enrichment.
