Opossums are actually great neighbors to have around! 🐾

These misunderstood animals help keep the environment balanced by eating ticks, cockroaches, slugs, snails, and even small rodents. One opossum can eat thousands of ticks in a season, helping reduce tick populations. 🕷️

There’s also a common rumor that opossums carry rabies. In reality, rabies in the opossum is extremely rare. Their lower body temperature makes it difficult for the virus to survive in their bodies.

They’re generally shy, non-aggressive, and just passing through while looking for food. 🌙

So if you see one wandering through your yard, it’s probably just nature’s little nighttime cleanup crew. 🌿

Our family has been learning about the human body in our homeschool science and yesterday we learned about the skeletal system! We read about the spine and nervous system, so we thought, who better to ask to explain than Dad (Dr Oscar) to give us a lesson!
