October is Dysautonomia Awareness Month, and today we're focusing on Postural Orthostatic Tachycardia Syndrome (POTS), a condition that affects blood flow, making it difficult to stay upright. POTS can cause symptoms like dizziness, fainting, rapid heart rate, fatigue, brain fog, and even digestive issues, impacting everyday life.
For many, simple acts like standing up or walking can become overwhelming. In fact, 25-50% of people with POTS are disabled and unable to work. The journey to diagnosis is often long, with symptoms easily mistaken for anxiety or dehydration. Connective tissue diseases, viruses like covid-19, head injuries, autoimmune disease, and other factors can contribute to POTS.
