Someone once said if you take care of someone with dementia you lose them more and more everyday. When they get the diagnosis, when they go through different stages, when they need treatment and when they pass away. This is called "ambiguous loss".
As the brain slowly dies, they change physically and eventually forget who their loved ones are. They could end up lying in bed, not moving and not eating or drinking.
There will be people who will scroll past this post because Dementia has not touched them. They may not know what it's like to have a loved one who has battled or is still battling dementia.
To raise awareness of this cruel disease, I would like my friends to put this on their page today. Hold your finger on the post to copy and paste to your timeline.
A special thank you to anyone willing to put this on their timeline for Alzheimer Awareness Week! That's what I just did!

Linda Underwood Cothern passed away on Sunday, January 25, 2026 at Grace House in Murfreesboro, Tn where she was dearly loved and cared for.

Linda was preceded in death by parents, Richard and Virginia Underwood; husband, Charles Cothern; sister, Sue Ann Bouton; and brother, Charlie Underwood. She is survived by daughter, Jennifer Cothern of Murfreesboro; son, Jeremy Charles Cothern of Arkansas; and numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews

Linda will lovingly be remembered for her deep faith and generous spirit. She was a lifelong member of Maple Hill Church of Christ and worked as an administrative assistant for Wynn’s Precision Rubber. Her greatest joy in life was her family. She showed her love in countless ways, most famously through her canning. She was well known for her homemade pickles and her cherished green tomato relish, which became a favorite among family and friends. True to her generous nature, Linda was always giving away what she had canned, finding joy in sharing the fruits of her labor with others.

She was also gifted with her hands. Quilting and sewing were lifelong passions, and in her early years Linda lovingly made all of her own clothes, as well as those of her children. Every stitch reflected her care, patience, and dedication to providing for her family.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, February 3, 2026 at Partlow Funeral Chapel from 12 noon - 2 p.m. with funeral services to follow at 2 p.m. Bro. Mike Wamble will officiate and interment will be in the Cedar Grove Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Richie Bouton, Jon Bouton, Rex Bouton, Bill Walker, Kent Tidwell, Randy Samson, Chip Vanatta, and Johnny Chaffin.
In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to New Leash on Life in Linda’s memory.
