Warmer weather is here…which means sweat, sunshine, and yes — your body quietly losing water all day long.
Here’s a fun fact you probably didn’t expect:
You lose about 10–14 oz of water every single day just from breathing. (Like… just existing! Wild.)
In drier places, you lose even more to the air but here in Tennessee, the humidity means you may feel less dry… while actually losing more through sweat. Sneaky, right?
Now let’s connect the dots to your pelvic floor 👇
Your bladder can typically hold about 12–16 oz, but not everything you drink goes straight there. Your body is prioritizing things like circulation, cooling you down, and (for many of you) making breastmilk before it ever becomes urine.
So if you’re thinking:
“I’ll just drink less so I don’t have to p*e as much…”.
::🚩 Your bladder is not a fan of that plan!
Not drinking enough can actually lead to:
•More urgency (that “I have to go NOW” feeling)
•Bladder irritation
•Stronger, harder-to-control urges
Try this instead: 💧 Sip throughout the day (don’t chug and flood your bladder) 💧 Drink more on hot/humid days 💧 Aim for PALE yellow urine 💧Add electrolytes if you’re sweating or breastfeeding (and let’s make sure there’s not a bunch of added sugar in these, either!)
Bottom line:If it’s hotter outside, your hydration needs to go up even if you don’t realize it.
And a well-hydrated body = a much happier bladder + pelvic floor 🙌
