Yesterday was a crazy day for this doula! Two births in one day! A beautiful unmedicated water birth and perfectly calm and seamless c-section. Two strong mamas, two healthy baby boys, and one happy doula 😍 So thankful everyone is doing well! I will never take for granted the sweet blessing it is to be a part of these special days ✨✨

Oh my goodness! YES! I’m always bothered a little when I hear soon-to-be mommas say “Oh, I didn’t make a birth plan because I feel like that’s setting myself up for disappointed since birth is so unpredictable.” Yes, birth is unpredictable. But if you know the ins and outs of each intervention or possibility, you feel more empowered in making those choices and making your birth preferences/plan is so helpful with that!

Sometimes it is tricky to differentiate between bh’s and actual labor contractions. Another reason to have a doula to help you figure it out 💜

What’s better than getting to witness the miracle of birth?

Of getting to see a mama’s strength as she brings forth her new baby?

And watching a daddy support and love on his family?

What’s better than those very first newborn snuggles?

Or that moment when a laboring mama finally gets to hold her baby in her arms?

Yep, birth days are definitely the best days!

Man. Everyone always says how unpredictable birth can be, but it’s just amazing all the different ways it can go. Today went differently from how this mama expected. There were scary moments. Moments where she felt out of control. Moments of panic. But in the end, she pushed through it all and came out stronger on the other side. Watching her dig deep and find that inner strength and rely on Jesus in those desperate moments was inspiring. She got her vbac (vaginal birth after cesarean) and I couldn’t be more proud.

Thank you for letting me be there today and to witness her wild and fast entrance! Congratulations again 💞💞💞💞

Love me some Sarah Lavonne! This is a very informative video about prodromal labor! She also has some good tips on how to get through because I know it can be SO frustrating to think “This is it!” and then it all stops. Give her a listen!

“Kissing your baby changes your breast milk. Did you know that the undeniable urge to cover your baby in kisses serves a biological purpose? When a mother kisses her baby, she samples the pathogens on baby’s face, which then travel to mom’s lymphatic system. Mom’s body then creates antibodies to fight those pathogens, which baby receives through breast milk. What?! Amazing, right?”
