Sad but true news! Lots to consider. Please schedule an appointment with me to see if we can come up with a plan B before discontinuing medication that has been working for you.
Many people do have to pay for these medications but also save money on food. There are hidden costs of obesity including increased health care costs paying for medications and medical care for obesity related health problems… asthma, joint pain, GERD, high cholesterol, hypertension, sleep apnea, & heart disease. Sometimes insurance will cover these medications if you have a diagnosis of cardiovascular disease (heart attacks, stroke, arteriosclerosis=plaque build up in the heart, peripheral vascular disease, sleep apnea, diabetes, & stage 2-3 fatty liver disease). I recommend that if your insurance won’t cover the medication for obesity, check to see if your insurance will cover the medications for any other reason other than obesity. May be time to consider that sleep study or have a calcium scoring test to check to see if you have any plaque in your heart? Let’s brain storm together to come up with a good plan for your health that is the best for YOU physically and financially. Bring as much information as you can to your appointment on insurance coverage! Also, there are other medications to help you on your journey. 2026 is your year! I believe in you! Helping people on their health journey is my passion. Hope to see you soon at One Stop Family Clinic!
