May 7th is National Anxiety Disorders Screening Day.
Screening for anxiety disorders can be done relatively simply, some screening tools have as few as 7 questions.

We want to talk about when it may be time to start thinking about getting screened for anxiety disorders (there are more than just a couple).

If you notice you have worried thoughts about the same situation for more than half of a six month period, it may be time to get screened.

If you experience at least one or more of the following in relation to worried thoughts:
* palpitations or pounding heart, or accelerated heart rate
* sweating
* trembling or shaking
* dry mouth (not owing to medication or dehydration)
It may be time to get screened for anxiety disorders!

Including at least one of the previous 4 criteria, additional symptoms include (but are not limited to):
* difficulty breathing
* a sensation of a lump in the throat, or difficulty with swallowing
* chest pain or discomfort
* nausea or abdominal distress (e.g. churning in stomach)
* hot flushes or cold chills
* numbness or tingling sensations
* restlessness and inability to relax
* feeling keyed up, or on edge, or of mental tension
* difficulty getting to sleep because of worrying

If any of these symptoms are negatively impacting your ability to be present in your life it may be time to get screened for anxiety disorders!

You don't have to be a trained dancer with excellent technique to receive the benefits from dancing, you just gotta move your body in a way that feels good and expressive!

Many on our team participate in dancing of some form. TJ and Bree both enjoy ballet, Erin sometimes integrates dance as a therapeutic tool, Xavier enjoys salsa and merengue dancing, and Ian does pole dancing for fun!

This World Semicolon Day we want to acknowledge those who are experiencing mental illness, suicidality, addiction, and/or self harm. These can be extremely difficult situations to navigate due to stigma, lack of education, and lack of access to support.

We want to encourage those who have the capacity to reach out to a loved one that is known to be suffering, or going through a hard situation, and give them some loving affirmations!

Project Semicolon is a movement dedicated to presenting hope & love to those who struggle with mental illness, su***de, addiction & self-injury.

Studies has shown that exercise/cardio can be more effective than an antidepressants and anti-anxiety medications for some individuals. The frequency needs to be 3-5 times a week for a minimum of 20 minutes.
