It's that time of year when sniffling and sneezing takes over. But when is it just a cold? And when is it time to see your Primary Care Physician?
At Primary Healthcare we know that knowledge is power...here is the information you need to know to make the best decisions for your health.
If you aren't feeling well, the fist step should be to self-test for Flu and COVID. These at-home tests are inexpensive and easy to get. If the tests come back negative, chances are good that you are just battling a common cold. If they come back positive give us a call so we can schedule a telehealth visit and get you medication you need to get better faster.
2. Track your Temperature: A common cold won't typically cause a temperature above 100.5 degrees Fahrenheit. If you have a persistent temperature above 100.5, give us a call.
3. Watch for new symptoms: Call us if you develop a new symptom that you don’t normally get, such as back pain, chest pain, dizziness or shortness of breath. These could be signs that you’ve developed a more serious infection.
4. Take Notes: Keep track of how your symptoms are changing including dates. This will help us know how to treat you more accurately.
A cold, flu or COVID-19 infection could progress to something like pneumonia or brochitis which requires more intensive medical care.
5. Call us! If you feel like you need to see the doctor, please give us a call and let’s chat about options!
Telehealth and virtual visits are usually covered by insurance and can help give you peace of mind about what to do next.
Call us at (801) 758-8735 and let us know what is going on and we will schedule a visit or telehealth visit as needed.
We will make it through this cold/flu/COVID season together!
