Brain Injury Alliance of Utah

Brain Injury Alliance of Utah We help people with brain injuries connect with social and medical services. Brain injury has been called a "silent epidemic."

We also help prevent brain injuries by educating children in local schools about helmet use. We also help prevent brain injuries by educating children at local schools about proper helmet use. Experts estimate that over 56,000 people in Utah live with brain injuries. Brain injuries can be very debilitating. Many people with brain injuries become too disabled to live on their own or maintain a job.

But some people with brain injuries can be rehabilitated and return to work. We've helped many people with brain injuries acquire the skills they need to re-enter the workforce. We've also helped improve the quality of life of many people with brain injuries and their families. Of course, the best solution to this silent epidemic is to prevent brain injuries in the first place. That's where our "Being HeadSmart" program comes in. We go to local elementary schools and educate children about the importance of helmet safety. We also teach children how to wear a helmet properly. The importance of children knowing helmet safety cannot be overstated - helmets are often the first line of defense against a brain injury and can even save a person's life. Our Being HeadSmart program reaches over 10,000 local children each year.

Sometimes this is the most important thing to remember.
This was something that saved me, especially in the beginning of brain injury life. It felt like forever but it never actually lasted that long.

So if today is that day, it's almost over and there will possibilities tomorrow.

Do you think this is why those around us demand that we be who we were before brain injury too?

It would be too hard, too inconvenient, to uncomfortable for them to help? Exercise patience?

It's too bad there are so many living in this situation. That's why we need each other.

Never really appreciated the gift that each day is until I realized that a day without someone I love is such a real possibility. Brain injury almost took them away forever. Even though life with them since injury is different and can be harder, I'm grateful for the gift of a good morning

I hate brain injury. I hate it. But it did make me a better person. I'm more patient. I'm more compassionate. I'm less judgemental. I'm more eager to learn. I want to help more people.

It's sad that it took brain injury to do that but I am more proud of who I am now than I ever was before.
