It may sound odd but we are thrilled for new (& improved) blinds for the hospice house! These blinds adjust at the click of a button and will allow our patients to control the amount of natural light they want in their room.

The Foundation at Murray-Calloway County Hospital is proud to support the Anna Mae Owen Residential Hospice House with a recent grant to purchase new blinds for patient rooms.
These updates may seem simple, but they make a meaningful difference - providing added comfort, privacy, and a more peaceful environment for patients and their families during some of life’s most important moments.
We are especially grateful that part of this project was made possible through a generous contribution from Laurie Rollins with Lulu's Home Trends. Her support, along with donations from our community, helps turn needs into reality.
Because of the generosity of our donors and partners, we are able to provide grants like this that directly enhance patient care and support our healthcare teams.
We are honored to help improve the care experience at the Hospice House and remain deeply grateful for the community support that makes it all possible. 💙

This post is several days late and a dollar short but…

In the quiet of hospice care, our social worker is an invaluable part of our team. ❤️ While medicine manages the body, they protect the peace of the soul—converting fear into comfort and ensuring every final chapter is written with dignity.
Thank you to our social worker, Katie, who is able to bring a calming to our patients, their families and our team. 🦋

This past Tuesday, our director, Jane Bright, along with the nurse practitioner of MCCH Palliative Medicine, Tonia Kelly, and our hospice social worker, Katie Kopp Hoover, were invited to speak to the students of the Adult Health II nursing class taught by Dr. Jennifer Rogers, a faculty member in the School of Nursing and Health Professions at Murray State University.
We are especially grateful to have the opportunity to share what hospice is and has to offer with the soon to be registered nurses of MSU. 🦋

This past Thursday, on February 26, we surprised our wonderful Director of Hospice, Jane with a birthday breakfast potluck that would make Cracker Barrel jealous!

Happy belated birthday to the human equivalent of a sunbeam! ☀️ Our Hospice Director has mastered the rare art of being a fearless captain by day and the most magical friend by night. Thank you for leading our team with a sprinkle (or sparkle 😂) of stardust and a whole lot of heart.
We hope your day was filled with as much joy as you give to everyone around you! Cheers to another year of making the world a brighter, better place…sparkles and all! ✨

It's a new month which means a new angel! Our January 2026 angel, Shannon, nominated our social worker, Katie! Here is what Shannon had to say about her:
"Today, I'd like to pass a long these angel wings to a person that show's up everyday with a huge heart of compassion and dedication, often even behind the scenes. She has an absolute heart of gold. She is dedicated to the patients, their families and our team. She doesn't just show up, she stands out with warmth, empathy, patience and an unwavering commitment to make patients and her co-workers feel safe, seen, and deeply cared for. Her kindness is felt and her advocacy matters and her presence truly changes lives."
