Our Story

Welcome!

My name is JoLynne Polichette and I am the owner of Peace of Me Birth Services. I am a wife, mother of three boys, a certified DONA International birth doula, a Lamaze certified childbirth educator, and Evidence Based Birth® Instructor. I am also a maternal health advocate that travels to my local, state, and national government to advocate for better maternal health in many ways. I started Peace of Me Birth Services with the hopes of helping local mothers and families in Western Kentucky, achieve positive and empowering birth and postpartum experiences.

My journey as a doula really started with my oldest, who is now six. My pregnancy was exciting and joyful, and came with very little challenges...dare I say it was easy. I took the traditional hospital classes and read the traditional book ‘What to Expect When You’re Expecting’ and felt I would be prepared...boy was I wrong! I was induced and ended up with a cesarean, which led to struggling to breastfeed. I was not informed on my birth options, nor what the evidence said, and felt completely unprepared for birth, breastfeeding, and motherhood.

So, I started becoming more informed. My next son was born via VBAC (vaginal birth after cesarean) and was a wonderful, empowering experience. One of those ‘fist in the air’ moments in life. Still, I wasn’t completely satisfied with the care I was receiving. This brought me to my third child being born at home. So we’ve had it all!
