The Summey Medical Pavilion has a new look, and it’s all about making visits better for kids and families!

Waiting areas feature colorful new wall art, interactive toys and scavenger hunt sheets to help keep kids engaged while they wait.

MUSC’s Zoe Peshel said, “When children are here, they don’t feel well. Some are scared. From the parking lot to the waiting room, the experience should feel welcoming.”

The first time Adam walked through the doors of MUSC Shawn Jenkins Children’s Hospital, he was just three and a half. He had a large tumor and the cancer had already spread to his bone marrow.

His diagnosis was high-risk neuroblastoma. Over the next 18 months, Adam went through chemotherapy, surgery, radiation, immunotherapy and two bone marrow transplants.

In March, his scans came back clear and today he starts kindergarten! We’re excited to celebrate this milestone with him.

Our Johns Island pediatric clinic just got a little more colorful thanks to South Carolina artist Marius Valdes.

His new mural features an underground world of bugs and flowers, designed to bring smiles and comfort to our young patients.

Players from the Charleston Battery team stopped by MUSC Shawn Jenkins Children’s Hospital yesterday to spend time with our patients.

They played soccer, joined a few rounds of Uno, and even gifted a signed pair of goalie gloves to one of our patients, Greyson.

Hendrick Motorsports visited MUSC Shawn Jenkins Children’s Hospital yesterday for a morning of crafts with patients and families.

The atrium was full of fun activities like foam painting, spray bottle art, and tissue paper crafts. It gave everyone a chance to leave their rooms and do something creative.
