6.27.2025 During our food journey exploring in Texas over the past few weeks, and while in Wichita Falls, Texas, it was suggested more than a few times that we give “The Original Casa Mañana” a try. So off we went, it’s tucked away on the east side of town, where there is lots of great history. However, if you weren’t looking closely, you just might pass it by, it would be truly your loss.
As we entered this smell of real down-home cooking fills the air along with lots of friendly and welcoming faces. This is where we met our very friendly server, Curt. Before ordering a big bowl of house made chips and salsa made its way to our table, salsa could have used a little more of a kick but, had a great flavor profile. The chips were thicker than most and packed with a great flavor, crunchy and salty, just like home. We shared with our server that we were first timers and that we were there for the famous Red Tacos. While we waited, we could help notice all the pictures on the wall, displaying the history and nostalgia of the restaurant and area. Plays into a part of the total dinning experience.
Not long after we ordered, here comes this plate with two very red tacos and some very authentic tasty rice and beans, which brought me back to my childhood. The tacos were kinda puffy, but not a puffy taco, however, crispy and had a great crunch. I enjoyed the fresh lettuce, tomato and cheese and the beef was flavorful, and seasoned perfectly.
Our server Curt came by the table often checking in on us. Additionally, we experienced great service and value during our visit. I wanted to say, we had the honor of meeting owner Vicky Carr, who also give us a tour of her kitchen and shared how she made their tasty and flavorful chips and salsa.
If your ever in Wichita Falls, Texas, please be sure to stop by The Original Casa Manana, you will not be sorry, highly recommended for any occasion and be sure to say hello to Vicky and Curt our server, Great job to all.
Until next time,
Chef Ron Lopez
