What I actually pack as a Team PT ✈️🇬🇹

Recovery isn’t optional at this level—so neither is preparation:

Packed with intention:
• Portable e-stim unit for neuromodulation + pain modulation on the go
• Kinesiology tape to support movement, improve proprioception, offload irritated tissue, and keep athletes competing
(Why can’t I get a bullet point here!?) Cupping set to promote blood flow, decompress tissue, and support recovery
• Tune Up + Courageous Balls for targeted soft tissue work and nervous system downregulation (built on a mission of empowering people to reconnect with their bodies). Thanks to (tag ) I can give the athletes the tools and knowledge to help regulate their own bodies.
• And a fully stocked tactical kit for everything from cuts and scrapes to sprains and sideline emergencies

Because performance isn’t just about how you train—it’s about how you recover ✨

I've had a few people ask why I'm in Guatemala 🇬🇹
So here's the story!

Last year, a colleague connected me with a member of the international federation who is also the team leader for Team USA. After a series of Zoom interviews, I was invited to join the team as a physical therapist. Once approved, they send out the tournament dates, and if it fits my schedule, I get the opportunity to support the athletes. This trip is for the Pan American Racquetball Championships.

My role here is courtside injury care, helping athletes with warm-ups, recovery, and staying ready to compete.

As soon as I knew I was attending, I reached out to the players to learn their injury history and shared exercises and rehab ideas leading into the tournament.

It's been such an honor to be here supporting them as they compete and represent at a high level.
If anyone has questions about what it's like working a tournament like this, I'm happy to answer!

Two visits in. That’s it.

Matt came in after a spiral fracture with a rod from his knee to his ankle… zero movement, daily pain, just trying to get through work. Swelling. Stiffness. No control of his ankle.

Fast forward just two weeks of following a plan: Movement is back, and pain is down! His whole body is starting to feel better — not just his leg.
This is what happens when you stop chasing symptoms and start working with the system.

If you’ve been looking for a sign to start, this is it.

And stay tuned — we’ll be checking back in with Matt in a few weeks for the next part of his client highlight series.

The gym can feel overwhelming when your body has been through pain, injury, or long breaks from movement.

New equipment, unfamiliar movements, and the pressure to “do it right” all add load to the system. The nervous system takes that in and often responds by tightening up, rushing reps, or avoiding certain ranges altogether.

Building confidence in the gym comes from reducing threat and increasing familiarity. Clear setups, predictable movement, and choosing loads that feel manageable allow the body to settle and move with more control.

Progress isn’t about pushing harder every session.
It’s about creating enough safety and consistency for strength to build over time.

Getting up from a chair seems simple until it isn’t. Pain, injury, or long stretches of reduced movement can quietly change how the body loads and transitions. Weight shifts, timing changes, and momentum sneaks in because the nervous system is organizing around what feels safest and most predictable.

Rebuilding something like a squat is a process of reintroducing load, depth, and control in a way the body can tolerate and understand. Progress often starts with smaller ranges and slower reps before confidence returns. Those pieces stack! As trust builds, strength shows up right alongside it.

Our upcoming Transformational Breathwork session is designed to help you move stress out of the body — not just manage it mentally. Through guided breathing, intentional music, and supportive coaching, this experience creates space for emotional release, nervous system regulation, and renewed clarity.

Breathwork isn’t about forcing anything. It’s about allowing what’s been stored to move — tension, overwhelm, stagnant energy — so your body can return to balance. Many people leave feeling lighter, clearer, and more connected to themselves.

If you’ve been pouring into everyone else lately, this is a space to pour back into you.

Recovery doesn’t just depend on time. It depends on how safe your body feels.

After an injury or stressful event, the nervous system often stays on high alert. Even when tissue is healing, the body can move cautiously, brace more, or avoid certain patterns because it’s still trying to protect you.

That’s why recovery can feel slow or unpredictable. Not because you aren’t healing, but because your system hasn’t fully recalibrated yet.

When we introduce the right input at the right time, whether that’s manual work, movement, or sensory feedback, we help the nervous system realize it can ease up. That shift can change how quickly the body is willing to move, load, and recover.

Healing isn’t just about fixing tissue. It’s about helping the system trust movement again.

Posture isn’t just about how you sit or stand. It’s shaped by real life.

Long days at a desk. Driving. Scrolling. Stress that lives in your shoulders or jaw. Doing the same movements over and over. Your nervous system adapts to what you ask of it most. When life feels demanding, the body often chooses stability and efficiency. That can show up as stiffness or posture that slowly shifts over time. It’s the system trying to manage load, not a failure.

Cupping can help improve circulation and tissue movement, giving the nervous system new information so movement feels easier again.

Posture changes when your body has better options. That’s what we’re working toward.
