In the kitchens of our grandmothers, pure alchemy took place. Enamel pots simmered low on the stove; jars of herbs and roots lined the shelves; and hands that had learned by watching other hands measured by feel, not by recipe. Scraps became meals, aches became teas, and nothing useful was ever thrown away. It was a place where time slowed, where care was the main ingredient, and where ordinary things were quietly transformed into nourishment, comfort, and memory.

At Regent Park Naturals, the new year begins the way it always has: with clean tables, sharpened tools, and the quiet work of preparing for another strong farmers market season. Winter is when formulas are refined, botanicals are gathered and dried, labels are reconsidered, and the coming months are planned with intention. It is a season of stockpiling soaps that heal, scrub, and soothe, of testing batches, and of laying the groundwork so that when market tents go up again, every bar reflects care, consistency, and craft. The year ahead is not rushed into; it is built deliberately, one preparation at a time.

Cold-pressed sunflower oil from Ukraine is prized for its clarity, stability, and naturally high linoleic acid content, making it an exceptional carrier oil for traditional soap and skin formulations. Expressed mechanically without heat or chemical solvents, this oil retains its native tocopherols, vitamin E, phytosterols, and a light, nutty aroma, resulting in a fast absorbing, non greasy profile that supports the skin barrier without occlusion. Ukraine’s long agricultural history with sunflowers, grown in mineral rich soils under temperate conditions, produces an oil that is both technically reliable in formulation and deeply rooted in regional craft traditions, where sunflower oil has long been used for everyday skin care, cooking, and household remedies.

Born at the intersection of field and factory, where miles of cabbage fields stretch toward the horizon, meeting the spires of great industrial complexes that rise in the distance. This was a familiar landscape to our Eastern European grandmothers and to the immigrant families who followed. Land and labor existing side by side. What grew nearby mattered, and so did the work required to survive.
The soaps of Regent Park Naturals draw from that inheritance. From fields and forests where cabbages grow heavy in the soil and wild plants thrive along stream banks and shaded hollows. These were places trusted not for romance, but for usefulness. Leaves, roots, clays, and grains gathered because they worked, because they were available, because they had always been used.

Alongside this botanical knowledge lived another tradition entirely. The discipline of hard work. The immigrant habit of endurance. The same hands that tended gardens also labored in mills, furnaces, and factories, carrying old-world practices into a new world shaped by steel, heat, and repetition.

Regent Park Naturals lives in that tension. Old ways and hard labor. Gentle ingredients shaped by deliberate effort. Nothing ornamental. Nothing accidental.

Each bar reflects a belief that care should be practical, honest, and earned. Made slowly. Used daily. Passed down rather than reinvented.

This is soap for people who understand where things come from, and why that still matters.

We started as one person making soap. Not as a brand or a launch or a business plan. Just one person, in a borrowed kitchen, learning how oils behave, how lye changes things permanently, how scent lingers on the hands long after a batch is poured. The first bars weren’t pretty. Labels were handwritten. Packaging was whatever could be found cheaply and safely. What mattered was the work itself and the quiet satisfaction of making something useful. The first places those soaps were sold were church basements. Folding tables. Fluorescent lights. Coffee that had been sitting too long. Bake sales and rummage tables. Places where people gathered for reasons other than buying things, and where commerce happened quietly alongside community. That shaped everything. Standing behind those tables meant answering real questions without scripts, explaining ingredients plainly, and accepting feedback face to face. Some people bought a bar because they liked the scent. Some because it reminded them of someone. Some because they wanted to support something small. All of those reasons counted. Over time, the recipes improved and the process became more disciplined, but the structure never changed. It is still one person making soap. One set of hands measuring, mixing, pouring, cutting, curing, packing, labeling, and shipping. One person reading messages, responding to questions, fixing mistakes, and standing behind the work. The rooms changed. Church basements became farmers markets. Folding tables became websites. Conversations moved from face to face to comments and messages. In many ways, social media became the new basement: imperfect, noisy, communal, and human. We still show up with a table. It just looks different now. Being small is not an accident. It means clearer limits and real accountability. There is no “they.” There is only the person who made it. We don’t promise miracles or chase trends. We make what we make, explain how and why, and let people decide if it belongs in their lives. If you’ve been here since the early days, thank you for standing at the table with us. If you’re new, welcome to the basement. One person. One craft. One conversation at a time.

Jewelweed (Impatiens capensis), sometimes called spotted touch-me-not, is a North American wildflower that thrives along shaded streams, wetlands, and forested valleys. For generations in Appalachia, it has been gathered fresh and used in simple, plant-forward preparations tied closely to place and season. Its traditional use reflects a broader folk practice found across many cultures and regions and so forth, relying on locally abundant plants, harvested at their peak, and prepared with minimal processing.

While jewelweed itself is native to North America, closely related Impatiens species appear in European and Eastern traditions, reinforcing a shared botanical logic rather than a single, unified origin. Across these traditions, the emphasis was not on refined extracts or shelf-stable products, but on proximity to the plant and the landscape it grew in, and the knowledge passed down through families and communities. The value was in freshness, restraint, and respect for the plant’s natural context.

Regent Park Naturals follows this same philosophy today. We wild-forage jewelweed from clean, protected stream heads and sheltered valleys where it grows naturally, harvesting carefully and responsibly with attention to land stewardship and sustainability. By sourcing from intact ecosystems and working in small batches, we aim to honor both Appalachian tradition and the broader heritage of botanical preparation, letting the plant, the place, and the process speak for themselves.

In an age of shortcuts, Regent Park Naturals chose a slower road.
Walk down the soap aisle today and everything looks the same. Bright colors, familiar shapes, promises made in tiny print. To the casual observer, one bar is indistinguishable from the next.
But the similarity is an illusion.
Most modern soaps rely on synthetic detergents, stabilizers, and fragrance systems designed for speed, shelf life, and uniformity. They work. They lather. They last forever on a warehouse shelf. For decades, that has been enough.
Regent Park Naturals was founded on a different idea.
Not that modern chemistry is evil, not that tradition is perfect, but that ingredients matter, and so does honesty about what goes into the things we put on our bodies every day.
From the beginning, Regent Park Naturals chose to work with recognizable, functional ingredients, plant oils, clays, botanicals, oats, roots, and herbs with long histories of use in everyday cleansing. Ingredients chosen not because they are trendy or cheap, but because they are understandable.
That choice comes with tradeoffs.
Natural soaps are harder to make consistently. They cost more to produce. They do not rely on artificial hardeners, optical brighteners, or fragrance boosters to mask shortcuts.
Regent Park Naturals accepted those constraints deliberately.
Instead of engineering products around additives, the formulas are built around process, careful batching, ingredient sourcing, and a willingness to let materials behave as they naturally do. Some bars vary slightly. Some cure longer. Some are seasonal by necessity.
That variability is not a flaw. It is evidence of restraint.
Rather than promising miracle results or medical outcomes, Regent Park Naturals focuses on something simpler, cleaning with intention. Clear ingredient lists. No hidden systems. No vague proprietary blends standing in for transparency.
Every bar tells you what it is, and what it is not.
This approach does not chase mass appeal. It does not compete on speed or volume. It competes on trust.
Over time, that trust compounds.
Customers return not because they were promised something extraordinary, but because the product did exactly what it said it would, without unnecessary extras. Families use it. People with ingredient sensitivities read the labels. Others simply prefer knowing where their soap comes from and why it was made the way it was.
Regent Park Naturals exists as proof that you do not need to add more to make something better. Sometimes the better choice is subtraction. Fewer ingredients. Fewer claims. Fewer compromises.
In a marketplace built on acceleration, Regent Park Naturals chose deliberateness.
And that choice still matters.
