A center for grieving children and families located in Northwest Alabama.

Before The Healing Place the majority of the children/teens:

Have difficulty talking about the deceased loved one/death of loved one
Experience anger, guilt
Have difficulty sleeping
Have a hard time concentrating on schoolwork
Feel alone, like they are the only one grieving

After The Healing Place the majority of the children/teens:

Are able to talk about the death of their loved one
Learn healthy ways to resolve anger and guilt
Sleeping improves
Schoolwork improves
Do not feel alone anymore

💙Adult Grief Support Group💙

THP is offering an Adult Grief Support Group Monday, January 12th, at 12pm.

This group is open to ANY adult who has or is experiencing grief. This group is in addition to our bi-weekly all ages support group. Any adults are welcome to join us regardless of type of loss or previous THP involvement. We hope to continue offering this group monthly to meet the need of adults experiencing grief in our community.

RSVP is not required to participate in this group but is encouraged. To RSVP you may call our office at 256-383-7133, email officemanager@thehealingplaceinfo.org, or message us directly.

✨Activity REShare✨

The Healing Place spends lots of time developing programming and curriculum that supports our children and families.

Last year a January favorite was “New Year, New Plate”. This activity invited children to think about “what was on their plate” for 2024 while imagining what “will be on their plate” for 2025. We encourage all participants to consider the good, the bad, and the potential. This has proven to be a great way for children to share thoughts on their previous year, how grief impacted certain aspects of their year, and what they hope will change or happen in 2025. We hope to share updates of this activity in 2026!

New Year, Same Grief

Grief in the new year brings with it a multitude of feelings. At THP, we recognize that those emotions almost give us whiplash. We encourage you to remember that there is no right or wrong way to grieve. There is no right or wrong way to bring your grief into the new year.

💙 Group will begin at 5:30 with dinner!

💙 At 6pm we will separate into our four age groups: littles, middles, teens, and adults.

The Healing Place can’t thank each and every advocate, donor, and community supporter enough for making 2025 such an incredible year. We appreciate you, and the work that you do, so much.

The Healing Place strives to provide grief support and education to children and families who are experiencing loss. 🎄The Healing Place recognizes everyone who is struggling with grief and loss this holiday season🎄

We encourage anyone struggling with grief to remember that it’s okay to do things a little differently. It’s okay to ask for help. It’s okay to set boundaries.

There is no “correct” way to manage grief during the holidays. We can only be kind, be considerate, and listen to what we need.

✨Help us create a Ceiling of Healing✨

THP is hosting another Ceiling of Healing night in January of 2026. We are giving children and families a new way to honor their loved ones by painting a ceiling tile in our facility, creating a beautiful tribute that surrounds our space with love, remembrance, and healing.

Any child or family who has experienced the loss of a loved one can come to our facility and paint a ceiling tile in memory of their special person. This tile will be showcased at The Healing Place for all to see.

We need YOUR HELP to ensure that any children and families who want to create a tribute to their loved one in the new year can participate. We ask you to consider sponsoring a child or family to create a tile for our January Ceiling of Healing night.

1 full ceiling tile: $50
1/2 ceiling tile: $25

Ceiling of Healing Fund: any person, business, organization, or group can donate to our Ceiling of Healing Fund to allow children and families the chance to paint a ceiling tile in honor of their special person.
