Fear – a powerful informer and necessary for base survival, is integral to the human experience. However, it should never be the driver of your life.
Fear should always be accompanied by the question – why? What are you in fear of?

This is where the power of conscious choice comes into play.

Having the courage to sit with your fear, recognize it, and proceed takes true strength. When you choose to let fear dictate your choices, actions or thoughts, you shrink your world. When you choose to acknowledge it and act with courage, you expand it.
Your wellness is not just about your body—it’s also about the mindset you bring to each day. Choose to move forward better informed. Choose to live courageously and in your purpose. Choose not to let fear be the thing that holds you back.
Your next level starts where your fears end.

Don’t get me wrong. I LOVE pizza, fried chicken, and chocolate cake. Fast food is easy, designed to be delicious, and almost always at the cost of nutrition. With busy schedules, fast food is too convenient and we do partake every now and again. So how does my family get nutritious meals that support our productive lifestyle when we leave home early and get home late many days? Meal Prep.

Every week, my wife and I work out the meals of the upcoming week so that we don’t rely on fast food multiple nights in a row. Our method of meal prep involves the use of simple meals that don’t require long ingredient lists, or that can be quickly prepared, or can be put into a slow cooker before we leave for the day to be enjoyed once we get home. We’ve found that meal prepping this way offers us enough flexibility to change our mind mid-week if we want to and we are only eating leftovers for 1-2 meals. This also offers us the option to have pizza or fried chicken if we so choose.

This last week, for lunches we had vegetable wraps with hummus with the one-off cheese and cracker substitute. For dinner, we had an italian-inspired shredded chicken, artichoke, and sundried tomato slow-cooker meal. We also had a mexican-inspired chicken, corn, and black bean slow-cooker meal. Yes, there was one night with pizza and ice cream (It was delicious too). When we have a day where we don’t need to be out the door super early, my wife loves to prepare casseroles, pancakes, or some other homemade brunch prepared with plenty of love and clean ingredients. We have plans to do an Indian-themed week, and a Japanese-themed week too at some point.

Meal Prep doesn’t need to be to be stressful, boring, or a rigid program. It can be fun, nutritious, AND easy!

As the season shifts, so do our cravings. Autumn calls us toward warmth, grounding, and nourishment.
My wife’s and my favorite is pumpkin. Pumpkin is often the star of the season (and for good reason) — rich in fiber, beta-carotene, and comforting in everything from soups to desserts. Root vegetables like carrots, beets, and sweet potatoes bring their own power to the table, offering steady energy and deep nourishment to match the slower rhythm of autumn.

So I’m curious — which autumnal food do you crave most this time of year?

Emotions, sometimes referred to E-Motions or Energy in Motion. No matter what we call them, they are a challenging foe for many. There are many reasons for this, some cultural, some societal, some familial, some self-imposed. Regardless of why emotions are seen as challenging, when they are not acknowledged and processed, they can get stuck and impact physical health.

Therapy and Counseling are valuable tools and can be synergistic with Naturopathic methods. Emotional Release and Neural Organizational techniques are beneficial because they do not require reliving what may have been a traumatic experience. Some utilize Meridians, some the Electromagentic Field that pervades and surrounds the body, some utilize the potent chemistry of Essential Oils, and others utilize reprogramming of the subconscious mind through language.

Emotional baggage is heavy. If you’re ready to put it down, we can help.

Ah yes, Dihydrogen monoxide better known as Water, the arch-nemesis to many and stranger to even more. Unfortunately, it is a key ally in the battle to achieve better health, wellness, and to any cleansing / detoxing program. Like it or not, you do need to drink water in order to feel any better. No supplement on the planet can replace good and actual hydration.

But how much water is enough? How often do I need to drink it? Does the source matter?
These are common and VALID questions that I hear often.
How much?
For most, the proper amount of water to facilitate actual hydration is half of your body weight in ounces per day. For example, if you weigh 200 pounds, you would need roughly 100 ounces of water.

How often?
The short answer is EVERY DAY! A more complete answer is that the body absorbs water better earlier in the day so more can be better if it is before noon. As the day wears on, smaller, more frequent sips of water are better so you don’t waste all of that potential hydration. I recommend that these sips are 1-2 ounces every 10-15 minutes. (Yes, I was sipping water as I wrote this and I’ll almost certainly be sipping water as you read it.)

Source?
This is a deceptively complex question. Unfortunately, tap water is not going to cut it. Opt for filtered water, yes the one that can get out most of the Fluoride. (DM us or stop by the clinic if you have questions about why.) Ideally, you’re using a Reverse Osmosis system and then remineralizing and restructuring your water. No, coffee doesn’t count. Coffee is a diuretic that nets you negative hydration.

Why does any of this matter?
The body is much more than 60% water and proper hydration is required for ALL functions.

Not sure what to do in your situation? Contact us and we’d be happy to help you find an effective and sustainable way to hydrate. We can discuss many potential solutions to help you feel refreshed and support your cleansing regimen.

Sometimes the only way we can see how to improve is when we feel we've hit rock bottom. While this experience is massively uncomfortable, it does have a silver lining. From this position, we can choose to look side to side and remain OR we can look up and see all of the opportunities to make fundamental change in our life. If we choose this second path, it requires some painful crawling, but then we'll learn to walk again, and then run, and ultimately fly.

With nothing left to lose, we will learn talents we never knew we had, how to love deeper, how to think differently, how to see with different eyes.

This is how most of the greatest change happens. Embrace it!

Sometimes we get into such a routine of stuffing emotions down so we don't have to deal with the "inconvenience" of processing them or for fear of judgment of others. It's no different than ignoring the weird sound your engine makes and the warning light on the dash. Eventually you'll break down just like your vehicle.

Music can be a powerful tool in helping us feel those emotions and process them so they don't get stuck and cause problems. Some flavors of Metal music can help with this. Keep in mind that you may need to look up the lyrics to understand the screaming. I also respect that this varied genre of music is not everyone's cup of tea. I encourage you to give it a try regardless. You may surprise yourself.

Feeling sadness or grief? Try the "Pain Remains" trilogy by Lorna Shore. This ought to make just about anyone cry. If they don't do it, try "Yaad" by Bloodywood. It's about pets. You've been thoroughly warned…

Feeling anger? Try "Silvera" by Gojira, “Hutt” by Bloodywood, or “Extermination” by Upon A Burning Body.

Feeling fear? Try "Bekhauf" by Bloodywood and Babymetal or "Find a Way or Make One" by Amon Amarth.

Feeling hopeless? Try "Aaj" or "Jee Veerey" by Bloodywood. You could also try “Unbreakable” by Lorna Shore.

Feeling stressed? Try “Be Still and Know” by Machine Head or “Melt Your Mind” by Mutoid Man.

I challenge you to listen to music outside of your normal, be it metal, country, or anything in between, and see how they make you feel. This is a great exercise in connecting with emotions again and moving through them.
What artist, song or genre of music do you feel that emotional connection with? Comment below.
