Looking for something to do over the holiday break in the Muskegon area? The Whisker Room is a new business in Downtown Muskegon. It is a cat cafe, where you can get coffee, tea or other beverages and hang out with cats that are available for adoption through the Big Lake Humane Society. Dr. Emma and Logan checked it out for the first time today and visited with several friendly kitties!

For those of you who participate in winter activities, particularly that involve iced over bodies of water, keep in mind ice thickness safety precautions!

Just a friendly reminder. Ice thickness on lakes across almost all of Michigan remain too thin to be walking on. We need at least 4" of thickness for it to be considered safe for humans, and at least 12-15" for vehicles.

Many areas have fast ice, or ice that is well below 4" thick. Please be very cautious. I know it's tempting to get out and fish or enjoy snowmobiling on frozen lakes, but it's just not ready yet for most areas.

When in doubt, take a measurement.

Have you ever wondered what it takes to become an animal chiropractor? It is much more involved than taking a weekend clinic or seminar. In the United States, in order to even register for any of the qualified certification courses, you must be either a DVM or DC in good standing. Then after passing the over 200 hour course, you must take and pass either the IVCA or AVCA certification exam. Each state has different laws about practicing chiropractic with animals, so it is important to find a chiropractor who has become properly certified and is familiar with the laws in your state.
