Join us in congratulating our new graduates from Goodwill's Heating, Ventilation, Air Conditioning & Refrigeration (HVAC-R) Certification program this week! The class successfully completed the intensive, 13-week, 104-hour training and are job-ready for an apprenticeship in this high-demand field. Offered at Goodwill’s Career Center twice-weekly in the evenings, Goodwill also provided free, on-site child care for program participants.

Thanks to support from the Michigan Department of Labor and Economic Opportunity, local HVAC business partners, and the Community Foundation for Muskegon County, Goodwill purchased tools and equipment, installed 12 furnace and air conditioning units for hands-on instruction, launched an on-site child care center, and hired a certified instructor.

This week, our Supported Transitional Employment Program (STEP) staff attended the Re:Con 2025 Conference, where they participated in a variety of trainings focused on innovative strategies to better support the people we serve.

The conference provided valuable opportunities for our team to learn new approaches, gain fresh insights, and strengthen their skills in helping individuals achieve meaningful employment and greater independence.

In addition to the trainings, our staff spent time networking with other providers from across the state, sharing ideas, and building connections that will help enhance the services we provide.

We’re proud of our STEP team’s dedication to continuous learning and their commitment to empowering those we serve every day! 💙
