Do you experience painful periods but tend to brush your symptoms aside? Could it be more than just “bad cramps?” For many women, severe pain, heavy bleeding or other symptoms could be signs of endometriosis.
If your period pain is so severe that it keeps you from doing normal things for several days every month, it’s time to speak with your VA health care provider about your symptoms.

The Su***de Prevention Team along with our partners from Behavioral Medicine and Social Work Service as well as Oklahoma Department of Veterans Affairs, had an outstanding weekend at the Wanenmacher’s Firearm Show in Tulsa. This is the world’s largest gun show and attracts vendors and participants from all states in the continental U.S., Canada and Mexico. In our 8th year attending the event, we were fortunate to have 2 tables to accommodate information about VHA services and benefits information.

Thank you to the following staff and volunteers: Bryan Jeffries (OKDVA), Shyla Bailey (SWS), Will Haywood (BMS), Jacqueline Ringer (SWS), Billy Simmons (BMS), Satria Jane (BMS), Brendon Elliot (BMS), Ashley LeFlore (BMS), Mary Odgen (SWS), Stephanie Wood (SWS), Brooke Millham (BMS), Andrea Jones (BMS), and Daphne Hillhouse (BMS).

Celebrating Mary Ogden, Veteran and Senior Social Worker

🎉 Mary Ogden, Senior Social Worker with the Eastern Oklahoma VA Health Care System (EOVAHCS) and a proud veteran, has been honored with a beautiful Quilt of Valor from Peggy Evans of the Quilts of Valor Foundation!

Quilts of Valor (QOV) is a heartfelt initiative dedicated to wrapping veterans and service members touched by war in comforting and healing quilts. Since its inception in 2003 by founder Catherine Roberts, whose son served in Iraq, QOV has grown into a national effort, providing handmade quilts as tokens of appreciation and support to those who have served in the armed forces.

Each quilt is crafted with care and respect by skilled volunteers, often part of local quilting groups or individual crafters. These quilts symbolize the nation’s gratitude, offering emotional and physical comfort as a token of appreciation for the sacrifices made by military personnel.

Mary Ogden’s dedication and service to veterans have made a significant impact, and this honor highlights the deep appreciation felt by the community and the nation. The Quilt of Valor serves as a tangible symbol of gratitude, reflecting the warmth and care of those who create them and providing a sense of comfort and healing for the recipient.

Veterans Day was busy for EOVAHCS. We are incredibly proud to continue serving Veterans. With our recent Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) 5 Star rating, we continue to strive for improved Veteran healthcare to the more than 65,000 Veterans we serve.

We had the honor to join OSU Medical Center OSU Center for Health Sciences and the The Anne & Henry Zarrow Foundation for the "Turn Over of the Keys" ceremony of the James Mountain Inhofe VA Medical Center.

This event signifies the transition of operations to the U.S Department of Veterans Affairs as the facility prepares to open its doors in 2026. We are incredibly thankful for the public-private partnerships and to Crossland Construction for their work on this project.

Immediately following the ceremony EOVAHCS staff joined hundreds of Tulsans for the Veterans Day Parade! We had so much fun seeing all the floats and seeing the smiling faces of those in the audience.

From everyone at the Eastern Oklahoma VA Health Care System, thank you, and we look forward to serving you well into the future!
