For more than a decade, Shannon Keeler pressed authorities to bring charges against a man who sneaked into her college dorm room in 2013 and sexually assaulted her. Only after discovering a series of disturbing Facebook messages sent from her perpetrator years after the attack did prosecutors agree to pursue the case.

Her experience underscores the challenges faced by sexual assault victims when navigating the legal system and why survivors are often reluctant to come forward.

Why should you give to the R**e Crisis Center this Palmetto Giving Day???

Sexual abuse and r**e are among the most psychologically damaging of all crimes. Survivors are likely to experience shock, anxiety, depression, shame, and a number of psychosomatic symptoms as a result of their trauma. The R**e Crisis Center provides FREE Individual Counseling services to both adult survivors and adolescent survivors ages 12-17 years old.
