Thursday marks the end of South Carolina's 2025-2026 legislative session, leaving proposed bills impacting survivors still awaiting action. Bills that are not signed into law this week will have to be reintroduced, restarting the legislative process.

Throughout this session, SCCADVASA tracked more than 100 bills potentially impacting survivors and our member organizations. We remain committed to advocating for policies that support and protect survivors across South Carolina.

SCCADVASA Executive Director Sara Barber and My Sister's House CEO Tosha Connors recently spoke with Live 5 News’ Samantha German about SC legislation and the importance of individuals using their voices to stand up for survivors.

Sexual abuse and r**e are among the most psychologically damaging of all crimes. Survivors are likely to experience shock, anxiety, depression, shame, and a number of psychosomatic symptoms as a result of their trauma.

The R**e Crisis Center provides FREE Individual Counseling services to both adult survivors and adolescent survivors ages 12-17 years old.

It's not uncommon for sexual assault survivors to leave the hospital ER wearing only a gown after undergoing a forensic medical exam, as their clothes are often collected as evidence.
