Most people think fresh is always better… but that’s not always true.
Frozen blueberries can actually retain just as much—sometimes even more—of their beneficial antioxidants. Studies suggest that freezing helps preserve compounds like anthocyanins, which support overall health and give blueberries their deep color. Because they’re often frozen shortly after harvest, they may lose fewer nutrients compared to fresh berries that spend days in storage and transport.
So if you’ve been skipping frozen options, it might be time to rethink it. Both fresh and frozen blueberries are great choices—but convenience doesn’t mean lower quality.
