Every child deserves to feel safe. While accidents happen, patterns of unexplained injuries or fearful behavior around adults can be warning signs of physical abuse. By staying aware and speaking up when something feels wrong, adults can help protect vulnerable children and connect families to support and resources.

Teachers are often the first safe adult to notice when something is wrong. A change in behavior, unexplained injuries, chronic exhaustion, fearfulness, or withdrawal may be a child's silent cry for help. Thank you to the educators who remain observant, compassionate, and committed to protecting children every day.

Recognizing possible abuse or neglect is not about accusing, it's about caring enough to notice when a child may need help. By learning the warning signs and taking concerns seriously, communities become stronger and safer for children. Together, we can help protect every child's right to feel safe, valued, and heard.

Check in with your kids and ask how they are doing, how school is, and how their friendships are coming along. When you help a sick friend, take them along with you so they can see how to value others. You are their greatest role model.

Children often show emotional distress before they ever speak about abuse or neglect. Sudden changes in mood, behavior, sleep, school performance, or social interactions can all be warning signs that a child needs help. Trust your instincts. Listening, noticing, and responding with care can make a life-changing difference.
