☀Rebecca Doherty, our Outreach Coordinator, an alumnus of the Leadership Georgetown Class of 2025, attended the Ribbon Cutting of their class project, Safer Shores, on Wednesday, July 30th.

In the wake of the horrendous beach tragedies in 2024, Leadership Georgetown came together and asked, "How can we make our beaches safer?" 🏖

And so came Safer Shores: Color- and Animal-coded beach access signs that help children, families, and emergency responders in Georgetown County locate one another easily.

A steady voice? A locked door? A favorite teacher? A nightlight left on?

For children navigating chaos, neglect, or abuse, safety isn’t a given. It’s something we help them build from the inside out.

Research tells us that even one stable adult can make a lifelong difference. A consistent relationship, a safe space, or even a single phrase (“I believe you,” “You’re safe now”) can change the trajectory of a child’s development.

At the CRC, we work to rebuild that sense of safety every day.

Every child who walks through our doors deserves to feel safe, seen… and maybe even enjoy a snack while they’re here.

🍎 We’re running low on snacks for the kids we serve. Can you help us restock? Individually packaged items like Goldfish, granola bars, and juice boxes are perfect.

Our Story

A multi-disciplinary child advocacy center that serves children of Horry & Georgetown Counties in South Carolina. We help child abuse victims recover from the horrific trauma of sexual assault and physical assault. We provide forensic medical exams, forensic interviews, effective advocacy and education. We work with our local community partners to find the best outcome for every child we see. We want to give children a the tools they need to recover from abuse and to prevent future abuse. There is never a charge for a child or their family to receive services from our Center. We are a 501(c) 3 organization.
