Help us celebrate the life of George Thompson Jr.

The pictures attached are of George, his truck, and John Deer lawn mower.

George Thompson Jr, 67, passed away Tuesday, August 22, 2023.

A son of late George Thompson, Sr. and Amelia Thompson Callahan, he was born in Hemingway, SC on November 29, 1955 and raised by George and Jannie Thompson. He is predeceased by brother, Willie (Cassandra) Thompson and a sister, Ann Barcus and his loving black lab of 13 years, Angel.

George loved spending time with family, football and watching sports. He owned and operated a lawn care business for 30 years. George loved his granddaughters.

He was a member of Real-Life Church and attended weekly. He loved to play board games and cards with his family.

He is survived by his wife, Susan Benton, two sons, Preston G. (Christine) Benton, Dustin J. (Samantha) Benton, brothers, Harry (Anita) Thompson and Jasper Callahan, sisters, Jacqueline Callahan, Shirley Powers (Jim), and Frances Callahan, sister-in-law Cassandra Thompson, two granddaughters, Tessa Benton and Rylee Benton, several nieces and nephews and loving friends, neighbors and clients of his lawn care business. A grand dog he adored, Trixie. Additional loved ones recognized as bonus grandchildren, Carissa Butler and Taliyah Ballard.

The family will receive friends at McMillan-Small Funeral Home on Friday, August 25, 2023, from 11:30 AM-1:25 PM. A Graveside Service will be 2:00 PM, Friday, August 25, 2023 at Withers Cemetery, 800 Collins St., Myrtle Beach, SC with Dr. J. Kirk Lawton officiating.

The family requests in lieu of flowers, memorials be made to the Real-Life Church, 9644 N Kings Hwy, Myrtle Beach, SC 29572, or a charity of one’s choice.
